Misc / Open / Motorising bike platform lift action
« on: November 05, 2023, 06:34:03 PM »
Multiman's trolley thread got me thinking...

Some who have met me will know I am loosing mobility due to muscle wastage. Arms and legs are effected. However although likely never to ride a bike again, I love working on them and determined when time allows, to get properly into the 400/4 resto....

Anyway because of my condition, I cannot pump the hydraulic lift pedal to lift the platform. Anybody ever done a motorised mod on these at all? Or do any of you engineering wizards have any ideas?

Misc / Open / CD175 with tasteful mods - I like it
« on: July 18, 2023, 03:31:20 PM »
Had a CD175 back in the day, not the prettiest thing in my mind. Had a CB175 front mudguard and piper 2:1. Still ugly but an improvement.

Saw this on eBay below with various mods from CB200. Really a CB175 with CD tinware I spose? I think it looks nice as a bike that would probably do well today as a "retro" styled affair. All IMO etc...

Where's My Old Bike? / A rusty hulk - so sad!!
« on: April 25, 2023, 05:04:38 PM »
Well doing the old eBay trawl for resto projects and such. Low and behold  my old bike came up. In a very very sad state as you can see. The motor in that was an absolute peach. Even the engine spec and  Dyno papers from TTS who set the carbs up are with the listing images.

Now just another 70's shed you would walk away from.....

Misc / Open / Hondamatic video.
« on: April 19, 2023, 04:30:59 PM »
The idea of these never did appeal to me and never will (on a bike). The video tells you about the bikes and then explains why they were a flop. Now return to my first sentence. Interesting though..... I spose.

Recommended Sources for Parts and Services / Decent screwdrivers
« on: March 03, 2023, 05:57:08 PM »
My  screwdrivers have definitely seen better days. Want to replace them  with something good but that will not break the bank... (Got the JIS stuff covered separately)

Any recommendations? I know Halfords spanners and socket sets are recommended regularly one here. Are their screwdrivers of similar quality?

Appreciate any pointers.
