In my experience (see below), air in tyres is definitely an improvement over no air in tyres.

You can buy it at your local garage for about 20p.

I've not deviated since the 70's  (not on tyre pressures anyway  ;D)

It's a Triumph Sprint ST955
170/60 x17" front @36psi
180/55 x17" rear @42psi

Pretty standard on most modern bikes.

[sorry, should have said - no way am I going out on New Years day without my heated grips (and a fairing)...]  ;D

I went out on a New Year's Day run to the Ace Cafe with the Bulldog Triumph boys. My bike was white-lining badly on the way, which I put down to the icy conditions.

When I got to the meet (at the shop), the others suggested I might like to put some air in my rear tyre...

Finding an open petrol station at 9am on 1st January was a chalenge, but eventually found the Honda dealer in Maidenhead was open, fumbled 20p into the machine and discovered that there was only 4lbs in the tyre  :o    [standard is 42lbs on these bikes]

I've actually been to the Oakdene and didn't like it much...  (apart from chatting to some members of Kent IAM who were out on an observed ride)

The carpark is gravel and the tea is horrible (sorry)

I hear there's a biker pub in Farningham?

Anywhere else around the M25/M26 area?

Newlands Corner is a bit of a trek from Sidcup - but if you are visiting Box Hill, it's always a good idea to visit Newlands as well.

Are there any biker cafes round your way? Always on the lookout for a place to meet my mates from Canterbury.

Go to http://forums.sohc4.net and type "speedo ratio" in the search box.

Quite a few of them have been experimenting.

Updated info and summer offers:

Lulu is running a "free shipping" offer if you order one of these books directly from them at Lulu.com: enter "FREESHIP" as a coupon if the site does not automatically add it to your oder. AUS riders: here's your big chance!

The book entered its Second Revision printing last month. The Carburetor drawings are less grainy, now.  Smiley The Second Revision includes another START schematic I had forgotten about, but recently ran across, in "Old Factory" K3 and K4 bikes. It is about 1/2 as common as the one shown in the book, so I have added it below so you can download and print a copy for your reference if you have the earlier book. It looks grainy on the screen, but prints out clearly.

Several of you have written, asking "What's in the book?". So, here's a thumbnail sketch (which may mean lots more to you after you see certain pictures in the book...it's healed now...).
-Theory sections: how the carbs, alternator, electrical, and suspension stuff works. Also, there's detail on the oiling principles used in this engine and the drive chain itself, along with notes on Honda's unique rear drive sprockets for these bikes (made only by me, today).
-Engine removal, teardown, and reassembly (3 separate chapters).
-Engine Inspection (a chapter by itself, noting wear points and what to do about them).
-Suspension: how the 750 chassis works, alignments, fixes, steering head bearing replacement, swingarm system information, shocks and their effects, forks and their different types (and how they work and how to tune them). General chassis tuning discussion, too.
-Front and rear wheels: bearings, brakes, and improvements, and diagnosis of troubles.
-Carburetors: detailed theory on how they work. How to clean them properly, wear points to watch.
-Electrical: all of the circuits of the bikes in all versions of the wiring harnesses, broken down into individual functions like Headlight circuit, Starter circuit, etc. How the charging system works (alternator, regulator, and rectifier). Electrical diagnosis and how to find the things that cause trouble (and fix them for good!). How to rebuild the starter solenoid and the handlebar switches. How to add relay(s) to the system to extend the handlebar switch life and generally improve the original electrical performance. How to change the fuseholder(s) to something more modern and more reliable, and where to get all these parts.
-Performance improvements: Two chapters-the first is stuff you can do yourself to recover up to 10 of the "lost" HP of the K3 and later engines. The second chapter is about going beyond that, while still preserving a long-lived engine.
Appendixes: General diagnosis, Maintenance schedule, Tuneup, Valve Repairs (minor valve job), Transistorized Ignition installation (mine), cosmetic changes over the years, and Tuneup.

It's mostly written the way I answer folk's questions here at SOHC4.net, and arranged more like a "class" on the bikes instead of just a reference manual. You'll be able to use the Index to find things, and if you're rebuilding an engine it will take you step-by-step through the Inspection process.

I'll be keeping some copies on hand, both so I can sign them for those of you who want it, and so I can make a $1 donation to the site for each one I "handle" (for all of us and our moderators and web-spinners).

Directly from the publisher:
If you want to get one directly from the publisher instead, here's the "direct buy" link from www.Lulu.com:
http://www.lulu.com/browse/search.php?fSearchFamily=2&fSearch=&fSubmitSearch=Go&fSearchSource=a&fSearchData%5Btitle%5D=My+CB750+book&fSearchData%5Bauthor%5D=&showingSubPanels=advancedSearchPanel_title_creator
They are selling it at $99.10 hardcover and $91.50 paperback.
You can also search there, by title, for "My CB750 book" and it will bring it up in both paperback and hardcover versions. They print it on demand and ship it. If you are ordering an "on demand" copy in Europe or UK, Lulu says it will print in those countries now and the shipping will be lower. Their forte' is on-demand printing: when I order in bulk it takes a long time to get them. I made a separate A4 format version for you Euro readers, but they only have that size in paperback. NOTE: Lulu is offering FREE SUMMER SHIPPING, no small thing for overseas riders!

Signed copies from me:
I buy some in blocks of 10 or more to get a discounts for SOHC4 members only, for those who want them signed. The paperback (8.5x11 size) is $83 USD per copy (which includes the $1 back to this site), from this printing (plus shipping).
The hardback edition is $93 USD per copy (also includes $1 donation) from this printing (plus shipping).

For signed ones, just tell me how you'd like it prefixed ("To: [name]...") and I'll add something to that, so please include that info when ordering, somehow.

Postage from my house for either unmolested or signed copies: (verified 2/10/2010)
Priority Mail, "If it fits, it ships" boxes: $10.70 in the U.S. (mostly due to weight).
To UK or AUS (if you REALLY want that signature thing): $22.05 .
I think places like The Netherlands is the same as UK.
To Israel: $22.33 (I know, you all like to spell it "Isreal" over there...  Cheesy ).
To Canada: $14.20 for either soft or hard cover.

My Paypal is: mgparis@concentric.net.
Checks, money orders, etc., go to: Mark Paris, 8903 W. Florida Ave., Lakewood, CO 80232.

A million thanks to all of you for being part of this book!
