 Popping and banging on 1 and 4 cylinders sounds like a duff capacitor, try swapping with 2-3 capacitor to see if the problem moves to those cylinders.

 On the flip side of the coin, at 5' 7" i struggle  with the hight of my CB750, but back in the day in 1974 i had a new K2 and i don't remember having any issues with the hight of that, so i must have shrunk quite a bit :'(

 I wouldn't be running a 2stroke on 100:1, i run my chainsaws on 40:1 even though recommend ratio is 50:1
