CB350/400 / Air screw adjustment
« on: December 12, 2020, 08:07:44 AM »
Hi
I'm chasing a non-firing cylinder on my 350/4.
Happy with timing and suspect carb setup.
Pilot jet is clear so...
I'm going to follow the float height FAQ here and the bench-synch. Great guides.
The manual tells me the airscrew is 7/8 turn out plus/minus 3/8.
Which spans 1/2 turn all the way up to 1 1/4 turns.
I know in is richer and out is leaner, but I don't really know what I'm aiming for. Anyone got a suggestion please?
Thanks guys

CB350/400 / Throttle response
« on: December 10, 2020, 03:32:30 PM »
Hello guys and gals
I've just  got a long-stored 350/4 running again.
Carbs cleaned, electronic ignition fitted, new plugs/filters. That kind of thing. Nothing major.

Tickover is nice, but opening the throttle and she's a little bit hesitant. Not 'snappy' like my 550.
Once all the cylinders have 'caught up', it revs out nicely. Sounds bloody lovely btw
Engine lovely and quiet so tappets/cam chain are prob ok.

Does this sound like carb balancing?

Maybe it just needs a good run, but I'm going to put on new tyres first. And wait for the rain to stop.

Thanks team

CB500/550 / Rear wheel bearings and the spacer
« on: November 23, 2020, 02:33:44 PM »
Hello
Feels like a daft question, but I've got replacement sealed bearings for the rear wheel. Feels wrong to remove the seal just so I can clip in the spider thing to hold the spacer. Which got me thinking what the spacer does?
Both bearings press against a machined shoulder as far as I can see. I can loose-loctite the diameter reducer in position on the bigger bearing so that doesn't fall out next time I withdraw the axle.

All the best, Paul

Just checking in from Knutsford, South Manchester.
Got me a '76 cb550 recently which needed a bit of work, but running ok so far...
Shiny side up, guys
