I've had my Triumph Thruxton for sale recently, same scenario sadly.  People asking stupid questions.  If I come with cash tomorrow can I have it for a grand less than the asking price?  etc.etc.

The one sane conversation I had was with a dealer who made the best offer, but still less than I was prepared to accept.  But of course there are genuine people out there, I had a few stupid offers when I sold my CB550 last year, but the guy who eventually bought it was a top bloke who I still keep in touch with, Sadly its the chancers who stick in your memory.

They come as OE spec on the new 650 Royal Enfields I believe.  Phantoms that is.

If its been fitted and in sunlight for that time no, if its been stored in the dark yes

That would beg the question, Why would anyone store a tyre in the dark for ten years?   If you were selling them for a living, its not good business sense and if you were an end user, why on earth would you want to buy a tyre and not use it fairly soon after purchase, unless it was a make that was going out of production and you wanted to keep a personal stock I guess.

The tyres on my 500 are over 40 years old, Pirelli Phantoms, anyone remember them? TBH I haven't ridden it for over 40 years and I'll replace them soon when the wheels get done. Wish they still did the Phantoms, great tyre.

They still make them or at least an updated version :

If your bike is a display only machine, then of course it doesn't really matter, but if you use it, even for short rides at low speed, as others have said, why take the risk?

On the toolkit cover issue;  I had the same problem when I got mine, i.e. the cover was held in place with two 10mm nuts.  I just replaced them for a couple of wing nuts which I think is what Graham was suggesting.  I must admit though I didn't know the kit was there for a week or so after I bought the bike, I more or less found it by accident!   Mine did have the owners manual holder under the seat too.

I went out really early on VFR this morning as its forecast to p**s down all day from about 9 am.

If only I could have the will power to do it more often (get up early that is)   I had the roads to myself and although it was a bit nippy, it was a pleasure to be out on two wheels.   For once the forecasters got it right, its slinglng it down now as I write this!    :(

Yes a 17mm pinch bolt holds the hub in place.  You will need a large C spanner, this is the one in the tool kit. [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

If I was ever to go down the three wheeler route one of these would fit the bill!
