Title: What have I done?
Post by: shaunc on June 21, 2013, 08:13:53 PM
Just been out on the 400 four tonight and noticed my cover has stuck to the outside downpipe and left the pattern of the cover on it. It's a Hein Gericke cover in the material they make cover up overalls out of. Obviously covered it up too quickly. It doesn't exactly look like anything's melted onto it but obviously something is there to leave the pattern.  Any thoughts on how I can remove it?  I'm mortified.

Also, if I can pick your brains.  I noticed as it got warmer it was getting more difficult to pull away as the engine feels a bit choked up.  I was having to rev it and slip the clutch a bit.  It was ticking over ok and running ok on the open road but was was stuttering as you put the revs on.  Is that thing normal with 400 fours?

Not sure about what to use on the exhaust. Solvol maybe? As regards the other issue, take a look at the "it's a shame" thread.

Panic over.  Noticed that the stuff wasn't baked on as I thought it would be. It had a slight sticky feel so I thought I'll try paraffin on it to dissolve it.  Just wiped straight off.

Just read the "it's a shame" thread. That's exactly it.
