Title: NEED kickstarter for CB400Four
Post by: keike on September 15, 2013, 02:25:12 PM
:'( After a good girly cry by the roadside yesterday when my much abused 36 year old kickstarter finally packed in and folded over to the "other side" - physically and metaphysically! (see Monty Python's parrot sketch) I'm pining to get one that works!!!!
Has any one got one lying about??? - Or knows someone who has????

(The arm of mine has no purchase on the bottom bracket any more and the bracket did crack and split yonks ago with her one previous owner...I trailed the internet last night...could only find a similar looking one in the US with the 350F...but it seems not to have a little hole above the big zig-zag hole where it attaches to the mechanism in the engine...so it might just not fit???
...yes, I could just be a slob and use the electric starter button-after I fitted a new regulator (ordered one already)...let's hope it's not the generator as well, but the output from it seems OK...
...but I'm a bit old fashioned and found that the kickstarter got me out of this and other trouble all the time...yesterday it was the AA which woootsed up the battery to get me home with revving the shit out of it, the poor old girl - but this can't go on...I wanna ride my canary yellow little wing not pose with it by the roadside!!!)

...as I said...David Silver (sales team) said, they are still trying to find a pristine kickstarter (arm&bracket) for the CB400/4 to replicate and sell...if & whenever that happens they intend to sell the thing at 40 quid & VAT&pp ... they truly know the price of everything and the value of nothing...but we can live in hope.
In the meantime we all have to rely on each other for help&support! Thanx Steve for yours!
XKeike
PS. Will post the story of the far too large David Silver regulator/rectifier for CB400/4 soon - it drives us mad, having to rearrange the electrical system to accommodate if under the side panels...story coming up soon, after we get our hands dirty&found a hopefully working solution!

£48 for a complete kick starter assembly seems quite good to me. ##
It could easily cost more to have one re-chromed.

If DSS do offer this item at some point I would expect it to be a bit more ?

## Compare this to the OE downpipe to collector gasket at £9.

Waha! I've got one of those gasket rings brand new from DS cost less at the time I bought it - but it turned out I don't need it for the stainless steel exhaust system I bought from Alldens Exhausts (which looks just like the original - but won't rust! - good investment!)
