Title: Motorcycle Sales Brochures
Post by: Rob.b (Rob Birkett - RIP) on January 27, 2016, 10:46:43 AM
Hi,

I have a large collection of bike sales brochures that may be of use or interest to those of you who are owners or restorers of bikes.

My collection is pretty complete for 1970 to 1999, and provided that the amount of work involved does not get too great I will be happy to post them up on this site probably in the gallery section.

In return if you download any of them a donation of your choice should be made toward the running of the site through the donations tab. I should point out that I have nothing to do with the running of the site and I will not benefit.

let me know what you want and I will post it up

Here is an example

Yes keep em coming Rob particularly early 70's ones. I have the Honda UK ones from 69/ 1970 with YLY70H press CB750K0  on it and CB250K0, 175 etc etc.  other with CB250K1 that I can scan. Plus tiddlers on the other side.

Sadly the 500/4 on that brochure is not on the DVLA register, so probably long gone now.

One of mine isn't in colour and has the original of this on it, which was the gold with white stripe on tank  CB750 sandcast 'Brighton Showbike' sold to Lord Denbigh. Think it was CGU 7H (still in the UK in bits). Discussed on here many times

You wouldn't see manufacturer's brochures nowadays showing rain *shock*...

I have an A3 version of the 500/4 on my office wall :)

Anyone got one of the full Honda range posters dating from 1978? I recall it showed all models from C50 to GL1000 and the Phil Read Replica. I had one on my bedroom door and would love one now, possibly even more than I did then! Ta, D.

Drew,

It this one? not a Phil Read Replica I'll grant you, sorry there is a sheene on the photos, too big to scan.  All we need is a rostrum camera and you could have them in good quality; so I've included a consolation CD175.

Cheers

Many thanks Rob,

This may be it, but in my mind's eye the PRR was the last bike in the bottom right corner of the poster. I could be wrong. Am I perhaps thinking of a later poster, I wonder?

Appreciate the CD175 thought. A 1981 CX500 (red) would also be appreciated.

Donation on the way.

Cheers, D.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting that the cb750 k6 in that poster lineup has a k1 style chrome rear light bracket ? I thought the UK k6 had the black three hole style rear light bracket?

CX not OHC, but it can be our secret.

Main picture omitted too big to scan. R

Yes but they always say that specifications are subject to change. I don't think that the bikes we bought always conform to the same exact specification.  I mean who can forget the debacle over the CB250 G5 rear mudguard; long or short ?  Mine was long and I wanted short!

Ha Ha Tought so !!

No worries managed to sort something !!

Also from the site I confirmed something on My K6 regarding indicator Buzzer . It says on the info that it has a 5 position indicator switch .Which gives an option to operate the indicator with out operating the annoying buzzer !! which I had found this out on my last ride with the bike 750 K6 and I tought the indicator switch was faulty !!

Attached the sales brochures I managed to find,

I scanned these high res but they won't reduce with Picture Manger. Will bung the full sizes scans later. Also I will scan the 1970 brochure . I think these are from late '69

1969 one coming up shortly... anything to relieve the boredom of filling in the final details of my Tax Return at the 11th hour !

Get ready for the 1969 prices scribbled on them. In B&W though ... they must have spent so much on the CB750 development they couldn't afford colour ones  :D

Last page ... my beloved CB250SS or K0 as the heathens call it Also added the 1969 Japanese brochure for the same bike the CB250 'Dream' with CB72 styling .. like the one I am building ... another money pit. In Japan the model we got in the UK with Candy paint and twin instruments was called the ' export'

Oh well back to the Tax Return ....yawn   ;D

Does anyone have one for the CB400F ?
Following from Rob.b's comment about G5 mudguards (the one I had then and the one I have now are both short) I didn't realise the 400 ever had a long rear guard.
Looks like German market only from the parts list.

The German bikes had even uglier mudguards than ours.

Here is the  USA market 1968 model 350K0 I am building up in K1 form (pleated seat/ extra stripe on tank) the same Candy Blue Green (we never got the K1 in the UK) . Notice the mudguards compared with the UK 250. Sadly we never got the 350 till the K4 (well it was 325cc really). Managed to get a NOS front USA guard at DS for it (one on DK bike was perfect but scuffed on one edge). The 69 only bike had a reflector on the front guard .. really rare to find rocking horse poo .. I found it taped to the frame on mine. It was also fitted to other USA models in 1969 only.

There was  a CB250/350/360G model  that was not like our G5 and sold in Europe with the long/deeply valanced guard  but it had the old engine (K4)  and disc brake (Chris in Japan has one and DK have sold a few barn finds)

Here is the CB350, never even seen one for the CB175.  I'm humbled by the response to this topic; I thought I was the only one accumulating these, but I'm clearly just an amateur!

That one of the SS125 has a candy painted frame.. Christ knows how much it would be to get one of those repainted. Wonder if Menno has had one to do yet?

I don't know anyone in your area but LSN Coatings in Castleford would charge about  £85 for frame & Swinging arm, inc. blasting. They do bike/automotive , they even do candy.

You said it! Just need the right colour  :)

I found this one of the green CB125s that I scanned out of the '76 Honda catalogue years ago

Then there was the CB750K6

These scans were from a '75 catalogue

I've got the other scans somewhere on my hard drive if anyone thinks they'll be worth scanning?
