CB750 / 750 Rotor Puller
« on: January 20, 2024, 04:48:40 PM »
Can anyone please advise off the rotor puller size/thread please. Need it off to replace the starter clutch as it slips occasionally. I have a R/H M20 x 1.5 bolt that I'm sure I've used this before but it won't start to screw in
Cheers

CB750 / Free Spares
« on: January 04, 2024, 02:22:49 PM »
As per my other post - 'Bludy Lump', a few weeks ago, I had the feedback on my brain tumour and its not good! Stage 4 Glioblastoma 'wild' tumour with possibly as little as 12 months life expectancy.
Anyway, the purpose of this post is I need to get rid of all the 750 and 500 ' sparesthat will come in handy some day'. Mostly 750 engine, electrics, clocks spares. Some 500 spares inc early and post K2 fork ears which are pretty good really. They are all free. Maybe a donation to the forum? However, due not being able to drive and daily trips to Christie's hospital for treatment, the spares are pick up only I'm afraid. Shame to go in the tip - which as my wife/kids havn't got a clue what they are and will skip them anyway. I'll post some pictures via tapatalk - theres also plastic containers full of bits that I havn't taken pictures of.]
Collection from Wigan, North West - message me or call me on 07793750144 (will answer except when in treat)
Phil

Announcements / Bludy Lump!
« on: November 17, 2023, 10:23:07 PM »
Unfortunately just been diagnosed with a brain tumor (first symptoms only 2 weeks ago). So, I'll have to surrender my licence and for the first time in 52 years, I'll not be able to ride my bikes. Hopefully should get licence pack in a year or so??? Don't do many miles but do get out on one of the bikes (rotate the bikes) for about 20 - 30 miles weekly. Won't half miss it!
Looks like I'll have to buy another project!
PS - Fantastic NHS service

CB500/550 / Honda Grease Nipples
« on: September 12, 2023, 05:41:53 PM »
I'm going to replace all the grease nipples on my bikes as I'm not confident they accept grease properly.
Are they just a friction fit? Do you just wangle them out and knock them in with a tube on the flanged part of the nipple?
They are the ones on the swing arm (350/500/750) and clutch (350/500)
Thanks in advance

SOHC Singles & Twins / CB350K0 Engine Gasket Sets - beware
« on: July 31, 2023, 03:27:28 PM »
Just assembled the bottom end of the 350K0 and on moving on to the top end, couldn't get the cam end bearing caps to tighten without trapping the rocker spindles (combined concentric tappit adjusters shafts) - they are free until I tighten the screws that hold the caps. Started doubting myself that I'd mixed up the (labelled and bagged) rocker arms/shafts but after much trying of different things, I measured the thickness of an old gasket and compared it to the new gasket. The old was 1.00mm and the new was .5mm! Hence the cam end covers 'squeeze' the camshaft and rocker shaft (including the genuine Honda O rings on the end of the rocker shaft) in by approx. 1.00mm - doubled up the 2 gaskets onto one end and tightened and rockers free.
The gasket set was advertised as an NE' brand but another make was sent - 'Vertex by Windrosa' - (bought from Brooks Barn on ebay as cheaper than NE brand advertised on DS website) - just thought set must be an equivelant. I have messaged them but no response yet. Genuine Honda individual gaskets are discontinued (according to DS website) and so ordered some 1.2mm and 1.00mm gasket material and will make some.
I know we're mostly Fours on here but thought it was worth warning members just in case.

SOHC Singles & Twins / CB350K0 Engine Finishes
« on: June 18, 2023, 07:18:17 PM »
Having finished the rolling chassis on my 1969 350K0, I'm just about to strip the engine for rebuild and repaint. I'm more familiar with the engine finish on the Fours but less so the 350 twin.
Can anyone advise on which parts of the engine are painted and which parts are left aluminium?
And what paint best matched the original on parts that are painted. (is it the same as that used on the fours that I've used on my 500/750's?).
Thanks in advance!

Desperately Seeking!! / Rubber Mounting Rubbers - 84705-292-000
« on: April 24, 2023, 11:58:50 AM »
The above mounting rubber grommets are perished at various locations on my 350k0 project. Has anyone got any decent ones I can buy please? I need 6.
DS is out of stock at the moment and want £4 odd each anyway.
Thanks in advance

Recommended Sources for Parts and Services / Chroming in Manchester Area
« on: January 24, 2023, 04:54:45 PM »
Just got my bits for the 350k0 back from the chromers. I used Leigh Metal Polishing Services (based in Swinton) - really top quality BUT expensive - the lot in the pictures was £750 (cash price).Took 4 weeks including Christmas break. I think the guy who does it there (John) is the bike/car specialist and probably (in my opinion) takes a cut. He's been chroming bike bits for 40 years so knows what he's doing (he insisted I dismantle the front guard so he could see any rust pitting under the rivetted on brace/brackets) - so he knew how much he could polish the outer surface. Been liaising with Ash to compare with Prestige and like for like, Prestige are much cheaper for the same quality - but 6 month lead time.
Just thought I'd put a 'up North' option for forum members based on my experience.

SOHC Singles & Twins / New Money Pit
« on: November 23, 2022, 09:50:06 PM »
Just bought a new money pit off eBay (DK). My head said 'don't' and heart said 'do'. Heart won!
My first road bike was a cb250k3 and in recent years fancied a K0.
Ash is going to be asked a lot of questions over the coming months!
