CB750 / New CB750K2 Exhaust
« on: January 07, 2015, 07:47:56 PM »
Hi Guys
Just got my repo K2 exhausts from CMSL (yes, there back in stock!) - was getting K0 exhausts from David at Saisei as he was (and still is I think) cheapest for K0 and K2 wasn't available but CSML emailed me to advise they where in stock.
Before I fit the nice shiny exhaust, what's your thoughts on painting the inside with some sort of heat proof paint - maybe barbeque paint that I can pour in and rinse around? Have too many memories of rotten exhausts being replaced on my CB750/CB500/Z1 in the 70's
Thanks

CB750 / Wiring - what thickness
« on: October 23, 2014, 06:14:28 PM »
Hi Guys
Need to make up some earth leads for rear indicators now that I've got rear stems (thanks to Oddjob). I've mic'ed up the old harness wire (bare) and its 1mm thick. I want to keep the wiring as standard as possible so want to order same thickness wire.  Unsure what to order - when it says 1mm (say on ebay), is it the thickness or the area? If its area, that would mean ordering 2.5mm?
Thanks

CB750 / Brake bleeding tips
« on: October 19, 2014, 04:55:06 PM »
Hi Guys
Anybody got any tips on putting first lot of brake fluid in the front brake system on my K2? I always have trouble! Just wont pump any fluid at all out of reservoir - have tried tying lever to bars with bleed nipple open and leaving it for a few hours but to no avail - had this trouble on every rebuild I've done. Res is original with DS rebuild kit and caliper has new piston/seal.

CB750 / Honda CB750K2 Lights Wiring
« on: October 16, 2014, 06:48:23 PM »
Hi Guys

The ‘never again buy a bike in bits’ CB750K2 project is nearing completion.  Just awaiting exhausts from Saisei (it was me who put David at Saisei onto SOHC forum by the way after making him aware that Yamiya had exhausts in production) and few bits like rear indicator mounts (anybody got spare set to sell?).
Just done wiring and can’t figure out lighting switch arrangements.  I’ve got a DS CB750 K2 wiring harness, genuine Honda (new) ‘Off/HL’ switch that fits between left hand lever and idiot light and reproduction RH switchgear.
The RH switch gear has a red dot, L and R positions.  Wires out of RH switch is White (low beam?), Blue (high beam?), Black (Live), brown/white (live return to rear light/instruments/etc), Red/Yellow (starter button?), Black (Live to engine cut out?) and black white (return live to coils?).

When wired into the harness and switched on I have:-
Starter working ok
Sparks at HT leads – none when cut out switch used
Red dot position – no lights
L position – Low beam and parking light
H position – High beam and parking light
Ignition switch parking position – parking light on

The above is achieved either by wiring with ignition live to black or by putting Off/HL switch in series to live.

My problem is why can’t I get the pilot light on on its own? I thought the Off/HL would switch on pilot light in the red dot position then use L and H for low/high beam.

If I wire Off/HL switch as switched live, it seems pointless as the lights are off in red dot position anyway. So switch is pointless!

I only have an early pre K2 genuine Honda manual/wiring diagram which doesn’t show Off/HL switch.

Any help would be much appreciated.

CB750 / K2 Brake hose
« on: August 07, 2014, 05:43:19 PM »
Hi Guys
Can anyone got a length of hose measurement for the top brake hose on a UK spec 750k2? My K2 came in bits and bought a new one and its too long - guess its for the higher bars.

And does anyone know whether repo original pipes are available anywhere yet?

Thanks
Phil

CB750 / CB750K2 Master cylinder rebuild
« on: July 01, 2014, 09:50:47 PM »
Hi Guys
Just got rebuild kit for master cylinder (from Silvers) and bit puzzled by washer supplied with kit. Schematic shows '10.5mm washer'. The washer that's with the kit is less than 10mm ID which won't fit over piston shaft and OD is too big to fit in the cylinder. Is this washer supposed to fit between the master cylinder body and circlip? (as per schematic shows), if so it won't fit. I don't have original internals - as my previous posts, bike bought completely in bits and cylinder was bare.
When this is solved, just have to figure out how to get that bloody circlip in!
Thanks

CB750 / Chroming
« on: May 22, 2014, 09:49:25 PM »
Hi all
Just a bit of feedback on some chroming I've had done by a company in my area (Northwest). I had CB750k2 rear mudguard chromed by RS chrome in Manchester (http://www.rschrome.co.uk) and have just got it back.  Outer chroming is excellent but surface rust still evident underneath/in recess between mounting flange and mudguard/wiring clips. Cost £65 plus vat and insured delivery. (about £110 ish total). 3 week turnaround.
Mudguard was generally good but with lots of minor pitting to outer visible chrome and surface rust in area's mentioned above.
I didn't clean surface rust off as I assumed they would derust whole mudguard and didn't want to mess up their process.
Moral of story I suppose is ask what prep they need before sending.  Overall though good price, service and chrome on visible chrome area
Just thought feedback would be valuable for other members

CB750 / CB750K2 Oil pipes wanted
« on: April 04, 2014, 11:07:31 PM »
Hi Guys
Anyone got a decent set of oil pipes at a reasonable price they want to sell? DK have K0 set but don't look that good.
Are the pipes interchangeable across the 750 range and anybody had set made up in stainless braided hose using the tank/engine end fittings?
Thanks
Phil
