Should keep me out of trouble if Boris decides to lock us all down again

Hi

I think having a plunging DTI take the guess work out of what is high and low when trying to see the run out and make the truing process much easier

For my set up I had two

The only thing I did was fit mine with a plastic slipper like in the photo so I did not mark my alloy rims

Sorry to disagree

Best wishes Al

Hi

Looks like a glacier bush to me

I have changed these on my RD350LC kick starter idler and the clutch centre bush so could be well worth while if it’s shot pressing it out and getting a size and asking a local bearing supplier if they could supply a new one

As then the bush and gear would be as good as new

Of course you can

Like I said I don’t think I will need it again and if I do I will just make another at work

All I ask is that you cover the post

Best wishes Al

I think a stand is a must

If you want where are you are I am willing to post my one I made for my wheel build as now my wheels are done I don’t need it anymore and if I did need one I would just make up fabricate another one like I did first time

Hi Dave

That looks nice and thanks for sharing the paint code

Planning to restore my tank and side panels over the winter so looks like I have found the ideal colour match as current red is a bit more brighter

Thanks again al

Yes if the crank is binding in it’s main bearing journals then it’s most likely bent but since the force was transmitted thru the rods surly you should call them suspect too?

Good luck

Best wishes Al

Yes first time for a wire wheel build but like to challenge myself

Lots of google YouTube and a dollops of patience

Plus built myself a decent wheel building fixture which without I don’t think you can do the job

Suppose thats me and the toolmaker in me

Hi Julie

I guess my rear off set was because I measured the difference between the distance from the bearing assembly on the cush drive side to the rim and the face of the drum brake to the rim so that my rebuilt wheel was the same

But it all worked out ok in the end

Hi Ted

I built my wheels myself and measured them before hand

For the front there is no offset and when I built the front I measured the distance from the outside disc face to the rim (as I had a dual disc front end) using a straight edge. And for the rear, there an offset which I made a note of before cutting the rim off so I could use the original rear hub but cannot remember off my head what it was

I think if you check with Richard at Central Wheel they may already have this info when they build your wheels

Best wishes Al

Hi Ted

If you were serious about gold alloy rims it might pay to phone Richard at central wheel and ask how much to supply some gold alloy rims

One thing I can say is their alloy rims and SS spokes kits are of extremely high quality and there service / help is good too

And I think for allot of pattern parts there is some right rubbish out there and you only get what you pay for

(As my mate used to say “cheap today dear tomorrow”)

Best wishes always Al
