[ Guests cannot view attachments ] I've taken the engine out of the frame, turned it upside down, does the red arrow point to wear caused by the chain?

I've taken the sump off, there seems loads of play but I can't see any signs of wear and there's filings in the sump.
Missed a word out, should have read "there's no fillings" in the sump. Which kawasaki chain is the same? Thanks Ian

hi, can anyone tell me if it is possible to determine if the primary chain has too much play in it by rotating the clutch basket clockwise and anticlockwise and measuring the free play ?

That's Paul Gabor. email mybluebike2004@yahoo.com Bought the two outer ones in 2016. OK, but you need extra care with them. I wondered about using the boots from the earlier bikes and moving the chamber forwards. Maybe making an extra ring between air filter box or modding the whole mounting.
I had a set off him for the K3 really good quality. He was a bit reluctant to post to the UK due to a couple of bad experiences but mine arrived OK.
I've ordered a set from the above, thanks for the replies
Update Rubbers arrived today, very Good quality

Its the angle of the outers that is different to fit the pd carbs
I've got a pair of earlier inlet manifolds from a f1, these look deeper than the k3 so would make the carbs sit closer to the air box. Am I right in thinking the f1 carb to air box rubbers would then fit? Or is it not that simple. I'd like to keep things original if possible

Typical damage from not heeding the warning when fitting the cam cover and bending valves, probably got sprocket but dont know if i have a spare head. All 500/550 are identical by the way
Thanks for the reply, I'll wait to hear from you if you have either part. Thanks Ian

Pretty decent one here.
Not the cheapest on Ebay but most of the others show some other type of damage and are not worth buying IMO.

Thanks for that, I had seen that one but it looks like its got a bit of damage round two of the oil seals but if I can't buy one of the forum I'll go for it Ian

Hi, has anyone got a cylinder head complete with valves and a camshaft sprocket to sell me? My 1977 k3 was running pretty good but had a weeping head gasket. Did a compression test and had three low cylinders which I tracked down to three leaking exhaust valves. On stripping the head I had six bent valves and a broken valve guide. The teeth on the camshaft pulley are worn to sharp points so it's anyone's guess what's happened in the past. Thank Ian
