Desperately Seeking!! / Re: CB360-350F-450K Swing Arm Collar Wanted

Pretty sure I have a NOS CB400F collar that I paid an arm and a leg for a few years back. I'll have a dig around and see if I can find it!

My equivalent was a few years back when I was watching my son play football. I missed a goal in the match, and found myself instinctively looking for the Sky remote control so I could 'rewind' and watch again.

Looks K6 to me - but should have RHS petcock if it is. May be sporting an earlier tank that’s been repainted.?

CB750 / Re: #2 Exhaust fouling frame
« on: November 06, 2023, 11:48:03 AM »
Was just a thought really lobo.

I'm currently having an alignment issue with a reproduction no.3 exhaust from Busso (thread on the US site). I'm just challenging my own thinking, really, so thought I'd put it out there. The problem with access to the spigot screws is it's difficult to get purchase on them with the exhaust clamping crowns fitted; so playing around is a bit of a bugger - and you don't want to introduce an exhaust leak into the equation once they've been clamped/crushed intiially.

I guess I was just trying to see 'what's changed' with your setup and if that's contributed.

Logic doesn't always seem to apply to these bloody exhaust systems.

Ran out of time 1/2 through today, but got #2 pipe off and am struggling to see how to  get the clearance I want - and figure I’m going to have to SLIGHTLY grind it’s ‘hanger hole’ so it butts to the frame off-square…. and ‘tilts’ the exhaust inwards a few degrees.
What’s really confusing me is that I’ve owned / been intimate with this bike and its HM341 pipes 10yrs now, and never been aware of this issue. I stripped it completely down last year, there was no rub / witness markings evident in either the frame nor exhaust - so what gives??? The only 2 things that changed in the rebuild are the newly powder coated frame, and my ‘plastic sleeving’ the footrest bolts as they had excessive vertical slop.
Lobo - have you removed/refitted the exhaust spigots that bolt to the head and crush the copper gaskets? A minuscule change in the alignment of these leads to a big change at the exhaust hanger end..

I assumed you knew and weren't worried about it Roy. Wouldn't bother me either. Just a case of running two fuel lines to the two carb T pieces instead of the single line/additional t-piece setup on the LH K5 petcock arrangement.

Here's a little quiz for you. I have done a lot of work on the petrol tank for the K5 and it's not been test fitted since it came off the bike 20 months ago. After all the work I still had not noticed the problem with it. Looking at the pictures I posted yesterday the problem suddenly hit me. I am really surprised that you eagle eyed lot have never mentioned it. Can you spot the problem with the tank, answers on a postcard please.

The fuel tap's on the wrong side for a K5?

Yes Roy! Congratulations. She’s looking and sounding superb. You must be well chuffed. Top effort

Remind me - who prep’d and painted the tank and side covers. They do look superb.

Member 4 Sales / 15 bikes for sale - selling off my entire collection
« on: September 20, 2023, 08:47:00 PM »
Well, the time has come to start selling off my bike collection (15 bikes in total).

Priorities change, and it's time for me to change direction. Don't worry, all good here and nothing in particular has driven this decision. I'm blessed to be in good health, have a growing young family who are thriving and the 'day job' is all good.

I still pan to do the odd restoration here and there, but not at the volume I've undertaken over recent years.

I just know in my heart of hearts it's time to explore a few other opportunities.  To be clear, this isn't a fire sale. I take pride in the quality of my bikes (both the original and the restored ones), and if these don't sell privately, they'll go on eBay with a sensible reserve on a timed auction.

I'm just putting prices on here now to comply with forum rules, and I already have some pre-interest in some of the bikes through existing contacts.

I'll take detailed photographs in the coming days/weeks and firm up pricing & detailed descriptions for each. All bikes are in good running condition/ready to go unless otherwise stated.

Here's the 'list' as it stands:

Not the one James did is it?

No Bryan - I sold mine to frank at MCU earlier this year. He's just put it up for sale for a princely sum...

He's done the same with my CB250RSA! Although I had the choice, sell to a dealer and that's it or sell on Ebay/Private and suffer the tyre kickers as I did with the Kawasaki.
Exactly what you said. To be clear, I have no issue with Frank putting the bike up for whatever he wants. He paid the price I asked, zero hassles, he dealt with DVLA registration and was a pleasure to deal with. It enabled me to put the funds into my next restorations.

I will however be selling 10-15 bikes in the coming months and will be listing them all on eBay with a reserve and see what happens The time has finally come to get out of the bikes.
