£2 was what I earned for my Saturday job in 1974. So that was a whole days money for a 16 year old.
What's the equivalent today?

The good old days.
In 1973 I bought a new Triumph Bonneville T120R for £518.00,wonder what that would be worth now.

Or for the really young ones like Green 1 and Honda All, that's twelve and a half pence!

Making me feel a bit old, when I started work I was on three pound ten shillings a week and my D7 Bantam cost me £35, plus £5 to insureit, I can't remember what the tax was then though.

Cheers

I started my first Saturday job in 1975 at 47.5p per hour (that's when we still had the 1/2p).
My first SS50 cost me £120 and even came with the petrol coupons issued in 1973 at the time of the oil crisis.

Wow Spitfire at least you are making me feel young. I started on £20 a week and the avatar pic is my CB500 that I paid I think £720 in August 74 from HGB in Harrow.
