This has just started, a whirring sound from the speedo not the tacho only noticeable when going slow when the engine is quieter. Took out cable and greased the speedo end and it is slightly better now but still there. Speedo still functions normally with no jumping

Just had a new tyre on the front and when I put it back there is now no brake at all, brakes were not touched at all during this procedure so at a loss to explain it and attempting to bleed the system to no avail. Have 'sucked through' the nipple as far as possible but nothing much comes out when sucking the stuff or when bleeding. Any ideas?

Hi, what type of solvent are you supposed to use when changing the fork oil, white spirit or something? can't use petrol so the book says.

My main fuse blows every month or so but only when I have started the bike and am wheeling it out of the garage, never on the road. Why could this be I wonder?
The fuse is the second from the right in the carrier of five, always this one.

Has anyone got one of these things and do they work? My 550 is a pig to start in cold/damp weather so what I want to find out is whether these things will help with this in removing the dampness. Also want it to be easy to get in and out as when it's dry I want to be out on it but these things are not cheap so wanted to know if they are a good investment?

My indicators seem to be a bit 'rapid' no problem really but the manual says I should have 32w bulbs and mine are 23w but I can' seem to get any locally, would a 32w bulb set make it slower? don't know enough about electrics to know if this would work.
Bike is a 1976 550.

Just put in new points, plugs, new head cover gasket, oil and filter change etc but the weather every time I have a day off is crap! I just want to get out and ride the old 550, but I will never SORN it as I like to ride year round if the conditions are good.

I am looking for feeler strips for the 550 tappet clearances of 0.08mm and 0.05mm had no luck on the net so far, anyone got a supplier please?

Going to replace my head cover gasket and was wondering if any of you guys use hondabond as well as the rubber gasket or just the gasket on its own?

I have seen on here before people complaining about the carb rubbers and clamps from Dave Silvers.
I have just renewed all the rubber boots on my 550 and they have fitted no problem at all, I kept them in the airing cupboard for a couple of days and they were beautifully soft and with a smear of fairy liquid they went on a dream. The clamps from DSS though are a different matter as they seem sooo soft and will bend and become misshapen very easily. I went to HCL clamps and got some 9mm wide worm drive clips and these are perfect for the job, needless to say I have no intake leak at all now and the bike is running as well as it ever has done.

Just rechecked my mpg and at the moment I am getting 63 mpg from my 76 550. It has an F1 engine with PD46A carbs so I was wondering what you guys are getting?

Anyone out there got a headlight assembly for a 76 550? Going for halogen conversion but all the lights I have tried do fit in the rim so I think I need to change the whole thing including bucket.

There seems so much conflicting information on pressures, I am running 26 front and 26 rear as per my manual. Have not really looked at the tyres before only that they have plenty of tread depth and sidewalls are in good nick. I have 100/90 - 19 on front and 3.50S18- 56S on the rear, is this ok? The bike handles well and I have no discernible problem. Bike is 76 550 K3.
