The new battery for the NC31 arrived today from a UK supplier, unfilled and with the acid pack. Anyone else received one like that lately in the UK.,

Wet type yes, but normally I'm using gell which comes ready to go.
It maybe for leaking in transit regs, ie if they drop the package and crack a wet filled casing versus dropping the acid pack which is quite robust.

I think it is now illegal for them to send them unfilled with the separate acid pack thats why I asked.

All ours have arrived pre filled for the past 18 months of so due to the new regs.

I only buy gel that way no blistered paint on the bike if it falls over.
I remember years ago while at work a hole appeared in my trouser leg it starter off about the size of a 5 pence peace and then within minutes my trouser leg was almost falling off. After that I lernt not to fill batteries up the night before when your half asleep

Julie is right, until last year I working in the UK parcel industry and batteries can no longer be sent with acid separately. I remember when the ban was introduced because because it happened very quickly and caught a lot of folk out, I'm surprised you did and wonder if it's old shelf stock.
I bought a battery from Halfords at the weekend for the GS500, tiny little thing but it still came in the same sized box as if it would have had acid, I bet they've been through their stock and filled them to comply.
