Title: headlight adjustment (cb550f2 us import)

Hi all, will i have enough beam adjustment on my headlight for British roads considering its a USA model?. Can i modify the existing set up or is it a case of a new unit!.

U. S. Ahead lights are made to dip to the right (straight into oncoming traffic here in UK) Usually it is the fluting (ridges) in the lens that are set to direct low beam, so no, replacement is the only real option. The good news is, they are a standard 7 inch headlight as used by millions of cars until very recently, so there are many pattern ones out there (think Landrover defender, original mini, Morris Minor etc) also DSS does a single one for less than £30.

And you can easily do a H4 bulb conversion.

Not that you’ll be allowed to buy halogen bulbs for much longer.

Or does that not apply to automotive?

That only applies to household bulbs Steve, to reduce power consumption in the home (leaving more available for people to charge their electric cars?) As motor vehicles produce their own electricity halogen bulbs will continue to be available. Funny enough, it's 10 years since standard bulbs for household use were banned from manufacture (EU meddling again!) and I'm glad I bought a load for my photographic enlarger as one blew last night!
