Title: Piranaha ignition
Post by: Seamus on November 20, 2008, 09:27:33 PM
Hi , me again,

I have seen a Piranaha system for sale and wondered if anyone else had any knowledge of these. I was aware of their car systems, but not anything for bikes.

May buy if the price is right

Cheers

I think Pirahna and Newtronic are the same thing--better is Dyna or gp to the US site and look up "hondaman" he makes an electronic system triggered by the points run at a very low current so they last forever(nearly)

This (http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=27610.msg282116#msg282116) would be a good place to start.

Thanks for the link. I have seen references to this set up but not this thread.

Wow, this was a relavation. May invest in this system, but first I will have to finish the tidy bit on the bike, make it look nice as well as make it more reliable.

Cheers

There's actually not a lot wrong with the original points system and they're very reliable.

Depends on how much you're going to use your bike. If you don't do many miles is it worth the cost?

I did 1700 miles on my 550 last year and I haven't touched the points. The bike hasn't missed a beat and is running fine but I'll check and reset them when I service it over the Winter just to be thorough.

Fair point Dave,

I just dont know how much I will use the bike. Hopefully we will get a summer next year.

Just started to take it apart for some TLC

Cheers
