CB350/400 / Looking for a value
« on: September 24, 2021, 08:56:21 AM »
Mate has a 95 400 Four that he wants to sell. Had new rims, spokes, tyres, mudguards, indicators, handlebars and other bits. Paint is not great and the engine cases could do with a bit of love. Runs well and everything works.

CB500/550 / Clutch Issue
« on: September 13, 2021, 08:11:46 AM »
My clutch sems to be engaging in two steps, the first quickly and the second more slowly. The lever is fairly heavy.
I have trawled the forum for posts and it appears that the cable is a possible culprit. Assume genuine is the way to go, with careful routing.
The mechanism is well greased and appears to be good and the pushrod is in one piece.
Have I missed anything?

Is the genuine Honda part any better than the after market version. Want to change mine as it sometimes flickers when hot.
Cheers

CB500/550 / Looking for some ideas
« on: May 03, 2021, 02:43:56 PM »
I have a carburetor bowl with a hairline crack in it and obviously leaking. This particular part is very difficult to obtain.
I am looking at ways to repair it.
Thought about solder, but as its made of crap metal, it is likely to melt at a similar temperature to solder. I have tried an epoxy petrol sealer, but that leaked after about a year.
Also thinking that a little bit of tank liner solution may work, only need about 10 ml.
Any other options available??
Appreciate any thoughts

CB500/550 / Just checking
« on: April 15, 2020, 12:13:01 PM »
My 500 has an aftermarket oil cooler fitted. I am about to change the oil and filter. I presume that draining the crankcase and removing the filter will also empty the cooler as its situated above the engine. I plan to add the correct ammount of oil, run it to fill the cooler again and then top up to the correct level.
Sound correct??

Humour / News from france
« on: April 01, 2020, 08:53:39 AM »
Yesterday, the French authorities deployed the military to supermarkets, in order to keep them secure and ensure social distancing is being respected.
However, after one old lady coughed, the armed forces have capitulated and are now negotiating terms of surrender with the shoppers.

CB750 / Info
« on: March 28, 2020, 09:06:19 AM »
Been trawling through my backup disc to see what could be deleted.
I have a description of how to make a float height check tool for a cb750 and an article on twin disc conversion. Not sure if its for a 500 or a 750. Originally by a chap called Ben Hiles, and probably from the US site. If they are of any interest, I will post them.

CB500/550 / Questions re Yoshi mods
« on: April 17, 2019, 08:59:44 AM »
My 500 has had a 605 Yoshi big bore kit fitted and also a cam with a Yoshi grind, it is running standard 4 pipes and airbox. Seems to run well enough, but not had a standard 500 to compare.
Out with some friends and they complain of a smell of petrol when following me, odd because there are no leaks and it runs smoothly and idles well.
Anyone know if the valve clearances change for the Yoshi cam?
Not sure whats in the carbs as I did not do the work, but assume the jets would have to go up a bit.
Ignition is by dyna and is correctly set, but will recheck as I have a new strobe that needs a test.
I know I need to do a plug chop to see how its running, so hopefully this weekend as the weather is supposed to be good.
Anyone with any general knowledge of this conversion as there is not much on the internet.
Thanks in advance

CB750 / Cycle X

I guess most folk are aware of this supplier in the USA, but they have a lot of interesting parts and some remade modifies bits as well. Always worth a look if you are restoring or customising a CB750. Site link below.

Hopefully of use to a few

CB350/400 / CB400 frame/exhaust question
« on: May 01, 2013, 09:40:10 AM »
Hi All,
Fitting an exhaust to the 400 and the silencer bracket seems to be the wrong shape. It is possible that the frame loop that the exhaust bracket mounts to is slightly bent. Any cahnce of a picture of the bottom loop? Or even better how the silencer/bracket/loop attach. (in case i am doing something silly)
Thanks

CB350/400 / Neutral switch connection
« on: April 09, 2013, 06:00:12 PM »
Silly question but how does the wire attach to the switch?
Received a 400/4 in parts to assemble and I did not take it apart. Wondering if something is missing.
Thanks in advance

Just a quickie, but is the small harness that goes to the points fixed to the sump or along the bottom of the clutch cover?

Thanks
