CB350/400 / Picture of electrics for 400 four
« on: December 23, 2012, 01:07:46 PM »
Hi All.
I am in the process of reassembling a 400 four for a friend. It was stripped out fully and came with a new wiring harness. I did not strip the bike, so wondered if anyone could post a picture of the arrangement for the electrics under the left hand side panel. I think it is right, but would like confirmation.
Cheers

Looked at mine today and they seem a bit down (about 3.5mm thick) Anyone know how thick new ones are before I replace?

Cheers

CB750 / Tighting cylinder head

Just a quicky to see how folk do this

Read lots of bits, some just torque in increments and others torque to the value, release and retorque.

What is the consensus here?

Thanks

CB750 / Genuine or pattern
« on: July 16, 2012, 10:19:10 PM »
Need to get a set of rings for the nK1 as I have finally sorted out barrels and pistons, genuine are £26 a set and pattern at £14 a set, so a fair saving over 4 sets. Any thoughts? Cannot really see how you can go too far wrong here, but willing to listen to experience.

Cheers

CB750 / Price of engines
« on: June 15, 2012, 08:28:05 AM »
Been watching a K2engine on Ebay and am amazed at the bidding so far.  :o

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CB750-SOHC-Engine-chop-chopper-bobber-/230805060232?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item35bd0dba88

I did bid for a while, but this is a bit rich for me. Especially as it does not turn over, so anything could be wrong. Are these now that sought after?

I do have a feeeling that the price is being artificially inflated as there is still a day and a half to go.

Am I still living on the past with regard to prices?

CB750 / Removing cylinder liners
« on: October 09, 2011, 10:13:55 PM »
Anyone actually done this? Looks pretty straighforward.

I was thinking of replacing my over bored set with standard size. Moving them to the old block would save repainting and would look better as the 750 block is not in as good condition.

Cheers for any thoughts

CB750 / Straightening fins
« on: September 16, 2011, 12:48:12 PM »
Anyone tried this? I have a set of barrels that have a few bent fins. I would like toi use these, but would prefer to straighten the fins before doing so.
I was thinking of heating them with a hot air blower (used for paint stripping, soldering etc) and then using a clamp to pull them into position. What's the chances of this working?

Anyone with a better idea?

Cheers

Misc / Open / Halfords professional Tools
« on: June 11, 2011, 11:26:58 PM »
I returned a ratchet spanner to Halfords today and they refused to replace it. The reason was because the lifetime warranty does not cover the moving parts.

Looks like they only guarantee the handle.

Bear this in mind if you buy any of these tools

CB750 / Horn Switch Query
« on: May 18, 2011, 06:38:27 PM »
Can anyone advise me as to how the horn switch earths? The type that I have incorporates a headlamp flasher as well using a thumb button that slides to flash and push to beep.
There are 3 wires to the switch, two of these connect in the internal switch to flash the headlight. This bit works fine.
The third wire is the horn wire and should earth somehow. I cannot see any tag or anything that can earth the internal switch to casing and the handlebar and am wondering if there is something missing. If I short out the horn wire to earth, the horn functions on a push of the button.
Any help would be appreciated as this is the final problem before the MoT. The bike is a 1972 K2, but a Japanese import and the wiring could well have been fiddled with as well.

CB750 / Front brake question
« on: May 12, 2011, 02:57:53 PM »
How far does your front brake lever come back? Really looking at early K's. My K1 moves about 1/2" before being solid.
A K2 that I have just replaced master cylinder seals, caliper seals and piston moves about half way to the bar. No air in there as it does not pump. Appears to just be the piston moving back and forth.

Maybe the K1 pivot has become stuck.

Thanks
