CB750 / Fuel pipes for CB750 K1
« on: December 05, 2009, 04:57:47 PM »
Anyone know if the original fuel hose was the braided type? Looked on the Motogrid site and found many options. I was going to just buy a length of hose from DS, unless anyone knows a better source.

Thanks

CB750 / Carb help
« on: October 15, 2009, 09:33:45 PM »
Hi All,
Pulled the carbs apart as I could'nt get the bike running right.
Looking at the parts, it appears that it has been fitted with Keyster parts and that is not good.
I think I need to replace the mains (120) and needles. These are for a K1.
Anyone got some to sell??

Cheers

CB750 / Oil pipes
« on: September 28, 2009, 01:18:25 PM »
Hi All,

Anyone had braided steel oil pipes made for one of the K series? Mine are fraying a bit and replacements are not now available. The second hand ones will be in a similar state to mine, so probably not worth buying (maybe I am wrong?)

Just wondered if this was possible and roughly how much?

Thoughts/comments appreciated

CB750 / Comstar wheel question
« on: September 13, 2009, 07:59:12 PM »
Curiosity question really,
I have seen a few later Hondas with Comstar wheels and wondered if they can be refurbished/rebuilt like their spoked equivelants.

Thanks

CB750 / CB750 neutral light
« on: August 02, 2009, 09:44:49 AM »
Hello All,

My neutral light is playing up on the K1. It used to work prior to the rebuild, but now stays on. I have tried disconnecting at the switch to see if it is a short and it goes out. Occasionally it will now extinguish in 3rd gear. I guess the switch will have to come out, and hope that I don't have to drain the oil for this. Anyone know if they can be cleaned or is it time to replace it?

I was hoping it would just settle down and work and to be honest was more interested in getting everything alse tuned etc.
As I have not posted and pictures of the beast, I have attached one here.

CB750 / Wiring help please
« on: June 25, 2009, 08:22:59 AM »
Hello All,
I am after a bit more advice please. I am in the throes of finishing off my wiring (now that I have some idea of the P.O's adjuatments). The bit that I have a bit of a block on is the power from the battery.
My systen uses a single fuse and looking at the wiring diagram, this has a red/white wire on one side (to/from the rectifier) and a red wire on the other side (to/from the ignition switch). I cannot find any way that the battery is actually connected to the wiring loom.
I think that the wiring should be a red from the battery to one side of the fuse and both red/white and red wires to their respective places (like on the K2)
Am I right??

Also I have 4 litres of Silkolene super 4 semi synthetic 20/50 nmotorcycle oil for the engine. I guess this is OK (I know it recommends 10/40, but this will be used for the summer and changed).

Thanks for any help that can be offered.

CB750 / Getting the oil round
« on: June 20, 2009, 10:13:26 AM »
Hi All,
Any tips for getting the oil round a rebuilt engine? I guess its a case of just turning it over till the oil light goes out before starting. I also imagine that this would be too big a load on the starter, so kick start is the way to go.
Is it worth removing an oil gallery plug to get this going?

As usual, advice gratefully received

CB750 / K1 Valve sizes
« on: May 31, 2009, 03:51:26 PM »
Hoi ALl

Can anyone tell me the standard size of inlet and exhaust valves for a K1? Mine has high comp pistons and been opened out to 810cc. Not sure what else has been done. I have  a few bent inlet and exhauct valves and before I replace them,I just want to make sure that they are standard before I replace them.

Anyone got any valve that they want to part with??

Many thanks

Seamus.

CB750 / Gasket sealant
« on: May 16, 2009, 11:42:42 AM »
Another question. I have looked at the US site and the recommenced sealant for crank cases seems to be Hondabond or Threebond 1194. I have found a source of the latter and was wondering what the wisdom was.

Another result of reading was the suggestion that the barrell studs should be replaced by some high tensile ones to allow a bit more torque to the cylinder head. My barrels are at 810cc (I believe) so should I change the studs as I have got the thing in bits

Thanks again

CB500/550 / CB 550 Fork Advice
« on: May 11, 2009, 01:03:55 PM »
I was checking a friends CB 550 K4 for MoT time. I noticed that when sitting on the bike and holding the front brake on, it was possible to rock on the forks and get them to dip a long way. The front felt very soft.
First decision is to replace the fork oil, is the standard grade OK or would it be best to go for something a little more viscous?
Other possibility is that the springs are past their best, How would I know without pulling them out?

As usual, advice appreciated

« on: May 03, 2009, 10:21:22 PM »
Lookin for a bit of help. One of my crank case bolts has sheared. I am fairly optiistic for the removal, but need a replacement. David Silver does not have them. Anyone with a spare? Happy to pay for the bolt and postage.

Looking for one of the 140mm long bolts that clamp the crankshaft. I believe tha there are 10 in total and most are 120mm.

CB750 / K1 ID Plate rivits
« on: April 27, 2009, 10:17:34 AM »
Anyone know wher I can get the little rivits that hold the ID plate on the steering head. This is for a US import. I had to remove the plate for the powder coating.
I believe that they are the sort that cut their own threads as they are hammered in.
Thanks in advance

CB750 / ART Pistons
« on: April 23, 2009, 10:58:17 PM »
Hi All,
I have been cleaning things up and noticed that my pistons are not flat, but domed with cut outs for the valves. The pistons are marked ART by the gudgen pin. A quick measure gave me around 63.5mm
This is above the 1mm Honda info.
Could this be part of an aftermarket kit? Any info appreciated.
I guess someone has been playing with my internals.

CB750 / Easist way to fit engine
« on: April 13, 2009, 06:38:55 PM »
I have the frame back from coating and will have the engine finished in a week or so. Does anyonr have a good method for fitting the engine back into the frame?
Thought about laying the engine on its side and laying the frame over it. (Nothing attached to frame at the moment, so spomething like this could work.
Hopefully someone with experience could advise.

CB750 / Take its head off??
« on: March 22, 2009, 08:45:00 PM »
I have taken the engine out of the frame to get some powder coating done and was trying to decide weather to take the head off as I have to clean things up and respray the engine. The unit was running well prior to removal, but whilst the frame is away, should I whip off the head and barrels as it would be easy to bead blast them and repaint in sections, rather than a whole engine.

Thoughts please or have I already talked myself into this.

Cheers

Seamus
