Other Bikes / Re: Triumph T100ss

Thanks, but I sold it after someone offered me a lot of money. Another should have kept it bike. Like lots of folk, I have had a few of those. Restored them over about a year, then run for a while, then gone. The whole thing repeats.
Still, I have had some nice bikes and have a few now.  8)

Lovely Triumph. Had a few Triumphs in my time, nice bikes.
Think you should keep and restore the Triton. Piece of history

Difficult but back in the day, they all had yellow plates from about 1972 (My new bike came with a yellow one in 72) The change in date for black plates only happened cos DVLA messed up and allowed them along with MoT and tax exempt.
But basically, your bike, whichever looks best in your opinion

Friend of mine did his tank by electrolysis. Worked really well using washing soda and a battery charger

Thanks for the info. The parts I saw were on DS site and listed the earlier part number. The arm piece is an aftermarket part that is made of better materials. Not ideal if the centre is made from the traditional monkey metal. Guess I will just replace the centre piece and if it feels rough, replace the arm section.

Well, finally took it apart. Cable routing was fine, cable itself was not particularly bad. The stationary part of the clutch mechanism had a piece missing above the threaded area, so that is to be replaced.
Does the arm itself wear? Thinking of replacing both parts while it is apart, but the extra 70 or so quid had to be factored in. May just bite the bullet and do both.

Obviously need more details, but a guide price is all I need to pass on to him

Mate has a 95 400 Four that he wants to sell. Had new rims, spokes, tyres, mudguards, indicators, handlebars and other bits. Paint is not great and the engine cases could do with a bit of love. Runs well and everything works.

Very interesting project. Patience is an understatement. I love the attention to detail, but that is where it all pays off in the end. Looking forward to seeing more progress and the final article.
Keep the story going.

Found a new old stock one on ebay. Awaiting delivery. Will check the other things when I have the cover off to change the cable.
Thanks again for the advice

Thank you all, Will have a look at the weekend. DS only lists an OEM replacement and not genuine.
 Are these OK?

CB500/550 / Clutch Issue
« on: September 13, 2021, 08:11:46 AM »
My clutch sems to be engaging in two steps, the first quickly and the second more slowly. The lever is fairly heavy.
I have trawled the forum for posts and it appears that the cable is a possible culprit. Assume genuine is the way to go, with careful routing.
The mechanism is well greased and appears to be good and the pushrod is in one piece.
Have I missed anything?
