Thanks for all the above advice, I've cleaned the joints up and the fuse holder and now with the ignition on but engine not running there is very little if any warming of the two red wires. The reason I had the ignition on in the first place is I am trying to get the headlamp to work. I have no power to the headlamp fuse and looking at the wiring diagram the black/yellow wire goes to the dip/beam switch. The black/red wire goes to the right hand switch. Where does that circuit get it's power from? If I put a live to the black/yellow wire going up to the switch dip and beam work.

The two red wires going to the fuse box on my 1975 cb550 F1 usa are getting warm while the ignition is turned on. Is this normal? If not has anyone any ideas as to what may be cause? Thanks Ian

As title, has anyone got a gear lever to sell, I've somehow misplaced mine? Will a cb550 f1 lever fit? Thanks in advance Ian

I didn't, they felt okay. The backlash feels like it's in the cogs of the gearbox, first and second gear not as bad as the higher gears.

Hi, just looking for a bitt of reassurance that everything is ok. I've reassembled the engine casings after replacing the primary chain and going through the gears by hand I'm noticing some backlash between the clutch shaft and the final drive shaft. Is this normal? Thanks Ian

Here's an old picture of my now long-gone village motorcycle dealer showroom. Can anyone satisfy my curiosity and tell me what " The rider agent" refers to? I have a slightly later picture of the showroom with the wording painted over.

I bought this grab rail sight unseen, described as "to fit Honda cb550f1". It fits on the mounting points on the bike but as you can see the upturn isn't tall enough and the indicator mounting holes are smaller. Anyone know what its off? [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

It's finally off, plenty of heat and some well-placed hammer blows did the trick. Has anyone got a replacement to sell me? Thanks Ian

I'm near Sheffield, couldn't believe it when the threads came out. Blow torch out in the morning.

I've decided to strip the engine and replace the chain. Trying to get the rotor off the crankshaft I screwed the removal tool into the rotor, First tried with a crack bar but no joy. Then I used an impact gun, still no joy and the threads have stripped on the rotor. Will I damage anything using heat? Any other suggestions welcome. Thanks Ian
