I don't think if he's bought it Off ChrisR he will have any nasty surprises !! It will be a good 'honest' bike. If you look at the way K2's have appreciated in value lately I reckon he has an real asset there. I know that the K1 was the highest no. of production but anyone know how many came to the UK. You don't tend to see that many - or is it just me who's not seen them around or on Ebay UK.
Cheers

So you are pleased with it Pete!
Looks pretty good to me considering some of the S*ite you get on Ebay. I am sure you will never lose money on it. It will only appreciate plus all the 300 series parts available from Honda and common to K0/K1 always seem to be K1 variant (e.g seat, shocks, bars etc)

Hi Pete - I have got both the spokes and rims (bought before they hiked up price). They are DID but with additional stamped writing and not made in Japan , the chrome looks pretty good and I suspect they are what everyone else uses. Not used mine yet though, still plucking the courage to lace them myself (with the help of my old neighbour who used to do it years ago). I think a lot of chromers will not rechrome rims any more and they would be far more, I suspect to rechrome, than the DSS ones. Rear on K0's have a unique rounded portion but I can't be bothered with all of that 'Sandcast' nonsense. I think most of DSS's stuff is reasonable quality and he gets a good price from the manuf's and passes it on.
Cheers

I have a pile of those receipts too!!!!!!!!!!!!
I liked it when I bought things from DS in 1986 'unreceipted' - Like 10 quid for a NOS 400/4 rear Fender!!!!
You are dead right - unless it's raelly cheap p to begin with don't treat it as an investment.
I reckon UKPete got a good investment bargain, last night though, though - Good on you Pete!!!!!!

I got them from Dave Silver end 2008, just when VAT went down - they were 525 + 40 for the heatshields plus VAT but they have probably gone up since then.
Sounds like you may be getting the bug Pete - but be VERY careful - it's a life changing obsession!

I suppose it really depends whats in the NOS parts bags and what the motor is like But you are always in for about 550 paint, 700 pipes, even a rolled K0 front fender is now about 200, 150 powder coat, airbox repro 75, rims/respoke 200+, tyres 130, Ducktailseat with metal base 300 - rechrome rear guard (if its not shot) 90. So thats almost 2100 GBP without even touching the motor!! Clocks look pretty good though - particularly the red line on the tacho -those pair alone are probably worth 500+ Have a look at the toolkit parts and it has a 'double hole' at one end wrench - now that is RARE
I was surprised that more people did not bid on the K0 that DK had before Christmas, OK it had a K1 motor but little finishing touches on it indicated IMHO that it was a pretty spot on restoration by whoever DK got it from.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-cb750-1970-KO-like-a-sandcast_W0QQitemZ250584340165QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycles?hash=item3a57fd96c5Yep and I don't think it's worth it. Load of parts are wrong on it (fender/pipes/seat(K2)/Airbox/ etc) - Mine cost 1500 and had the genuine 4 into 4 etc and I thought I had possibly paid over the odds. People should be aware of how much these things cost to restore not only in cost but the hours and hours and hours spent tracking down parts. I would reckon on at least 2-3k to get this looking A1. Nice toolkit though!!! Now ChrisR's imported 1970 K1 on there (Ebay) is a different matter - if he's selling it, it will be spot on. Cheers Ash

What is the cut front fender comapred to the ds one
Pete
The early K0's had a front fender (Mudguard to us 'Limeys') which was not 'rolled over' edge at the front and back By late K0 production the front was rolled over but not the back. On the K1 onwards both edges were rolled over. If you look at the 12K GBP K0 on Ebay at the moment you will see what I mean. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-CB-750-KO_W0QQitemZ130367354949QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycles?hash=item1e5a7ff845 They are mega expensive repro 700GBP!!! and even tatty ones on Ebay go for around 150 quid, even in the US. David Silver sold one of the rear only cut ones recently on Ebay for about 145 GBP I think. Anyone know why David Silver hiked the K0/K1/early K2 front fender price from 79 to 175 GBP?? I got mine for 79 but the chroming was crap so they swapped it but had to check about 12 to find me a good one!! They picked the faulty one up and redilivered for free though!! Oh and i forgot 'wrinkle tank'

I suspect it was a bargain but we never got the pics. It is amazing how much you can spend on a K0 though and Dave Silvers does not sell lots of the unique parts . Such as
Recessed Ignition switch Rear Fender Cut front fender Metal base seat Black knob kill switch 9one went NOS last week on Ebay for 240 GBP Clocks carbs
Yamiya750 sell the parts but the 'cut' front fender alone is around 700GBP
LPM sell good repro airboxes and side covers though, at very reasonable prices
So if anyone is ever looking for one check these items

I agree Pete - people pay ridiculous amounts of money for parts - particularly for my K0, as you are fighting with Sandcast parts. My mission it to document the parts, particularly electrical, as this is my field and pass it on via sites like these. Rather than pay 300 quid plus for a regulator, wiring harnesses, rectifier etc, start solenoid switch I am refurbing my old ones with a view to a total strip and as near to new as possible. But remember it's not a competition!! It should be a relaxing hobby. You may be competing with perfectionists on these sites butwhen you take your finished bike out on a Sunday you will still get a warm glow when 'normal' people see it. The fact that odd bits may not be 100% original won't matter a jot to them. Keep yer chin up mate Ash
