Not daft money if you add £1k for engine rebuild  - my first observation as an amateur is the chromed headlamp ears do not look like standard UK 400's.

Some very nice bikes sold at that auction Ash and some of them sold on the cheap side.
I wonder if Steve bought the CB175, he was after one?

I think that was a K4 Steve. Mine is a (Candy Gold) K5 but the only main difference between K4 and K5 in appearance is the K5 has a double thin pin-stripe on the fuel tank and the seat embossing/quilting is different

The auction bike was a 5XXXX frame number but the numbering on these was out of bonk by 1 so it's a K4 (I think) ....  A bit like a UK CB250K2 starts CB250-3XXXX but a USA CB350K2 starts CB350-2XXXX

Judging by the pics it was a good buy ..but you would really need to see it in the flesh to judge properly .... as always though NOS or nice condition  standard pipes are unobtanium and DS patterns are only mediocre.

Didn't see that.  Correct colour too...

Mine was a K plate.

Dunstall Decibel silencers fitted once the originals failed MOT  :)

What a hoot.

Bit of sealant bottom of tank.
Eventually I'll be after SS125.

I went to buy one of those Cb175s back in 73, ended up buying a CB125 instead as the 175 was just out of my range. Always regretted that decision.

I was after a CB175 after selling my CB160 in 1980 but couldn't find one so bought a very used rattle can black CB200 instead from an undertaker! It was a nice bike but the 175 was better looking. I have always had a soft spot for the smaller CB twins of the 70's.

Has that 400 4 had an engine change?

I personally don't think so and little features on that bike would suggest it is indeed a low miler. But you would have had to inspect it closely 'in the flesh' to determine if that really is the case. Went for a reasonably high amount, so I guess someone must have sussed it being a low-miler.
