Will you be using Eastwood Pre-Paint Preparation, before clear coating?

CB350/400 / Hubs & fork legs
« on: June 19, 2016, 10:20:49 PM »
I am getting my wheels refurbished and  have some questions.
I am thinking of having hubs & lower fork legs polished.
Were hubs originally painted?  if painted best way of removing paint?
have heard of clear coat been used on polished parts
What type do I need, and what prep work is needed before painting?
Any help would be great
Thanks

I painted my engine a few months ago,I did not strip the engine. I blocked all openings and had the engine bead blasted. Painted it Simonz engine enamel..This paint requires curing so  I had to make up a big plywood box and line it with tinfoil .
I purchased a cheap cooking thermometer on ebay, Used a heat gun to get it up to temp.
It took five hours to cure paint properly . very happy with end result.
I got the idea from sohc USA forum

I also read some where that curing paint by running the engine is not a great idea as the top of the gearbox may not get hot enough, and this is the place where petrol will land if the carbs leak

Hi, Looking for advise again. does the oil pressure switch tread all the ways down?
Is there a seal for between switch and the oil pump?
My switch  seem to take a lot of pressure to screw down, do not want to shear it
Any advise , ideas would be helpful.
