Hi John

The alternator wires do come up through the chain case along with the battery cable

Other Bikes / Rivet link shattered
« on: December 23, 2013, 08:50:35 PM »
Hi all

I have fitted many chains and sprocket in the past and never encountered a problem
Today when fitting the new chain to my dads Triumph Trophy the rivet link shattered before it mushroomed over.
Has anyone else encountered this with a JT X ring chain.Do you need a different size rivet tool for a 530 chain even though I'm positive I used the same one on my cb750 530 chain and S4 520 chain.

I'm sure you could make it road worthy for as little as £200
Have a look on ebay you would be surprised what they sell for :o

Hello and welcome

She looks nice and original I would be surprised if it needs new discs as they are stainless and last forever. As for price I would just go in low and see what happens I guess it would be worth about £1200 and you would probably have to spend that on it.
It's surprising how quickly all the little bits add up but it's always worth it.
Good luck

Sorry Alan I don't think there are two sizes
Did you get inpatient and take the hacksaw out I've been guilty of doing that before when replacing a lock on one of my vans

All my bikes are insured with Bankstone unfortunately with limited mileage but I never seem to find time to use them anyway. :(
They appear to be a good company as they recently thought my corner with a recent claim.

Bugger Welcome shame it couldn't be on a more cheery note but hay ho

If the engine was rebuilt at a Honda main agent contact Honda UK they take things like that very seriously.
They will come down on them like a ton of bricks.
One of my customers are a massive well known car dealer.Any whiff of a complaint they come down and inspect the garages.

I was going to paint my hubs but was advised not to as the spokes rub the paint off.
I don't know how true that is i suppose there is only one way to find out.
