Many thanks for your help Julie, much appreciated.
Thanks again, Andrew

Tick the box that says something like 'save a copy to sent box'. I think you only click it once and then it does it continually. Someone chirp up if I am wrong with this please.
I did that on all three, but still no joy?

Some advice please - I've sent 3 PMs today but I'm unable to see them in a sent box?
Is the sent box visible or will I only be able to see those received?
Thanks

I have a 1970 K1 which will be for sale soon The bike is us but uk registered in my name, I rode it for a year or so then put it away due to divorce and health problems it has sat in my heated garage for a while unused, It is a survivor , an unmolested original bike, I was going to restore it but could not bring myself to change it from it's original condition It will be on eBay in the new year but if anyone is interested in it on here then I am all ears Pete

I've seen pictures or Pete's bike and talked through it with him - in my opinion, you can't go far wrong than getting in touch with Pete. It's a really decent bike and perfect for what you're looking for in my opinion. Pete is also a great guy & know by many on this forum. James
Thanks James, have PM'd Pete.

Thanks for your replies, I've been previously reading Paul's K1 restoration thread and it got me thinking about my options. I've restored a Triumph TR6 (car) and that was painstaking, detailed and time consuming work, so I'm not necessarily looking to go that deep again, but Paul's work is very impressive. A running restoration could be route one.
I'd prefer to find a UK bike and I'm in no rush, but when that search has run its course I'll be looking for the right import, either US or European.
For the rider option, I see what appear to be decent looking K1s (and K2s) for sale at what I would consider strong money e.g. £9,000 - £12,000+, not sure they are there yet, or are they?
Despite what's on FleaBay, what can I realistically expect to pay for a good rider (UK and import), correct in detail/spec with known history?
Thanks again

Grateful for some advice please.
I'm considering options to replace the Honda CB750K1 I owned in the 70's i.e. buy a good rider or go down the project route. If a project, it would a be longer term restoration, say 2 - 3 years.
I don't want a basket case and ideally a UK bike that's all there (but wouldn't turn away the right import), it would need to be running restoration project e.g. maybe needed a new paint set, exhausts, rewire and general TLC etc - I know it will all depend on what needs doing and could end up being a false economy, but what kind of ballpark money should I be expecting to pay for such a bike?
Thanks

A mate of mine has a 73 UK Z1, one of only 7 known to survive of the 44 UK Z1's Kawasaki imported into the UK in 1973 So are they like the Brighton CB750s, or more like the Sandcasts?
What are the other bikes that fall into such a category?
Eamon really wanted me to buy an RRN FireBlade that a guy in Maidenhead was selling. It was good and a good price but I didn’t have the space. This was 10 years ago .
So what else will be astonishing the auctioneers in 30 years when we are all long gone and 70s bikes are treated like 40s bikes are now?
Of course, we’ll have young ‘uns like James to keep up the tradition

Well, I hope to still be around in 30 years even though I'll be 91, but I may have given up riding by then......... Who knows what'll capture the interest of classic bike buyers, maybe the first generation FireBlades, here's mine which will have to make way for a K1 one day - it's a UK 93 RRP:

BTW: not my first 900. Sold this 1973 Z1 a few years ago in a moment of complete mental derangement

Thanks for input. Engine and carbs are free. Yours look great. Euro spec is double disc, long rear fender and seat belt?
Looking for a tank with genuine paint in good condition.
Yes, some Euro countries, plus the rear indicators are fitted on chrome brackets on the rear grab rail, unlike the US model which fits them to the frame.

Pour a little oil down the spark plug holes, leave it for a day or so - put it in gear and rock it (with plugs out) to make sure it's turning and not seized. If ok, then change the oil and filter and examine the contents, looking out for 'bits'. If ok, charge the battery and turn it over in short bursts without plugs in to get a good coating of new oil on the internals - then new plugs, clean the points, reset the gaps and fire it up and go from there I'd suggest. Good to see another UK/Euro spec Z900 A4 coming to light, here's mine: I may well be looking for a UK spec CB750K1 to replace the one I had in the mid-70's - here's my old 1971 K1 in Richmond Park in 1977 which was sadly written off (not by me) in 1989 - the eagle eye'd members will notice it had been fitted with chrome headlight stanchions:

Bill, who must be in his 80s now, is a top bloke and I bought four bikes from him from 1973 - 1978 before I moved out of London down the M3: Honda SL125, Yamaha DT250, the CB750k1 and a Kawasaki Z750 twin.
When I finally decide what I'm doing next I'll call in on him.
Cheers Andrew

After I posted on his Facebook page, I was contacted by the dealer (Bill Bunn MCs in Ealing) who sold me the Honda in June 1977 and he'd run an HPI check and it appears my old Honda 750 was written off in 1989. So sadly that's that and I'm not interested in recreating it. Cheers Andrew

Welcome from me too. Nice you have a photo of your old bike. So many of mine I don't, sadly have a picture of.
Thanks for the welcome - I have a few old photos, here's one when I fitted a Rickman faring in 78 - mad really, as I could only move the handle bars about 2", so rubbish for riding slow in town, but great when going fast, or faster! Cheers Andrew
