Title: Side Stand
Post by: TOMMO.W on August 06, 2022, 04:07:52 PM
Hi I have had a problem with my hips stopping me from getting on my 400-4 and I wondered if the side stand was shorter then this would make the bike a bit lower to get on.
Does anyone know if another models stand is shorter and would fit my bike.
Thanks for reading Tom

Have you tried the “horse method”?

Left foot on left peg and mount the bike that way.

That’s the way I have always got on (and off) my Triumph Tigers (the 900 was a bugger…)

Just come back from that sort of problem myself after eerr... rectal surgery   :o  that left me in pain for months and complicated by a catheter I've just got rid of,  I found using the side stand and kerbside  a helpful combination myself. ;D

Fully agree with finding a kerbstone where possible. At home I keep a couple of blocks of wood near my garage door for when I get back home and have broken my "arse-ache" mileage limits.  Whatever you do, DON'T use a shorter prop stand as the bike will have a much greater tendency to tip over, especially when you are trying to dismount, and that will definitely hurt.
