Sorry Dave - missed your question.
Can't remember now... 3393
CB500/550 / Re: engine rebuild« on: April 03, 2009, 10:18:45 PM »
I don't see why not. You can do a complete top end strip on the 500/550 with the engine in the frame as there is enough clearance for the cylinder head below the main frame tube (unlike the 750).

Contact Jim direct Dave; I'm not sure that he will check back too often.
He posted on .net a while back and I directed him here. 3395

If you paste the "IMG Code" from Photobucket into your post, you'll get the pictures direct.
I've edited your post to show. 3396

Got any better pics Mike? I've tried blowing them up to [width=600] which is best for this forum but they are too pixelated.

CB500/550 / Re: difrent coils?« on: March 29, 2009, 12:37:06 PM »
There are various options; you can replace the coils with those from a 500/550 from a breakers, you can cut them open and replace the wires, you can cut them off and join new wires or you can replace them with coils from a later model (eg VF500) that have screw-in leads.
There's a lot of info on the .net FAQ here: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=5752.0 Read that first and then post back Steve 3401

Looks good Mick.
Did you do any engine work? Where are you? 3402
CB750 / Re: Take its head off??« on: March 23, 2009, 04:47:38 PM »
If you take the head off you will have to do the barrels too (they'll never reseal once slackened).
Get a top-end gasket set - they're all in there. 3403

Yea!
Pour it everywhere! 3404
CB500/550 / Re: piston ring compressor« on: March 23, 2009, 04:29:13 PM »
Same with the 500/550, the lip at the base of the barrels is enough.
Just don't force it and use loads of engine oil. John and I must have learned in the same "engine rebuild" class! 3405

I saw that at Kempton - thought it was overpriced...
