Morning everyone, It's been ages since I've posted on here. I decided to get my F1 back on the road after a couple of years being laid up. It has sailed through it's MOT but soon developed a fault on the starter button. It wouldn't stop turning the engine over when I let go. I took apart the the throttle grip and the plastic part which holds the button, spring and wiring just disintergrated into tiny pieces. Will a replacement part from a UK bike fit as My F1 is the American model and I'm sure the wiring will be different.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated
Thanks, Andy

Hi All, Happy New Year well the sun was out and the roads were quite dry so bolted on the number plate an tax disc, ended up going to Squires Cafe in Sherburn in Elmet. The bike didn't miss a beat, I was grinning like a kid at xmas. Fingers crossed for some good riding weather this year Andy

Hi all, I'd just like to know what tyres do you guys recommend for my 750F1. I'd like to get a set that looks something similar to the originals to keep the classic looks. Cheers

Hi everybody, It's been a while since I've posted on here and it's with a sad heart to inform you all of what has happened.
On Sept 18th the missus and me were on our way to the O2 arena in London to see Ozzy Osbourne. We were on the 900 Diversion that I bought earlier on this year, when the back tyre blew out on the M1, I lost control and we both came off the bike. My wife died on the way to hospital as a result of her injuries.
The Police investigation is still ongoing and I've found out since that the previous owner had a temporary puncture repair done on the back tyre and he failed to tell me this when I bought it of him.
If I'd have known about it I'd have replaced the tyre with out question.
I'm unable to work due to my injuries and I've got three young kids to look after.
So it's a very upsetting time for us all. Andy

Hi all, I've just got myself a Yamaha XJ900 today on a Rplate(97). It's gonna take some getting used to after riding my F1. I'll get a photo posted soon Andy P.S. The missus had a go on it and dropped the bloody thing. The fairing all scratched and front indicator lens has broken!!! Bloody women!!

Hi all, What oil should I be using, 10/40 or 20/50? should it be mineral, semi synthetic or synthetic? I've been using Halford's own 10/40 mineral. Just wondered what you guy's recommend?
Thanks
Andy

Hi Guys, I've had to take out my engine to cure an oil leak (More on this later ). Before I removed it I started it up to double check where the leak was coming from. It took ages to get it started and when it did finally cough into life it sounded really rough and sloppy and the throttle response was sluggish. Anyhow, It's running and I'm on all fours trying to see where this oil is exiting from, when I accidentally banged my forhead on the No.1 header pipe!! This is when I found out it wasn't running right, as the pipe was stone cold. On further inspection, No.2 was cold too, 3&4 were hot. I pulled the plugs and they were all black and sooty, (running rich/weak spark i think) but 1&2 were caked in oil, the threads and the tip were covered in it. Could this be why it's not firing properly or do you think it's something else, IE HT leads pooped, or a bad connection somewhere? I'm stripping the carbs down again tommorrow to see if owt's blocked up. Also, it was making a poppin' noise similar to a backfire as if one of the pots was trying to come to life (RPM's increased with every "pop"). What should I be checking to fix this? Cheers Andy

Is anybody going to the Lotherton Hall show this Sunday? I think the VJMC organise it. Tickets are a fiver, kids free.

Hi all, I've stripped 2 of the threads on my engine so as a result the rocker cover will not tighten down causing an oil leak. Is using heli coils the correct way to go, and is it something I can do myself or do I need a motor engineer to do it?
Any advice is appreciated, as thread repairs is something I've never done.
Thanks Andy

Help I'm in the s*!t big time. I've been checking my bike over prior to this weekends trip away. Everything seemed fine until electrics went dead. I checked the main fuse, fine, connector blocks etc, fine, it turned out to be loose earth wire on the battery. The trouble I'm having now is that when the bike starts and the rev's hit 2000+ rpms, it's blowing the main fuse, it doesn't do it when on tickover. I don't know what to look for and I'm supposed to be going away tomorrow morning. The bike ran fine until now. Thanks Andy

Hi all, does anyone know the bhp for the 400/4? My wife is doing her bike test but when she passes she's restricted to 33bhp for 2yrs. We're looking for her next bike snd she likes the 400.
Cheers Andy.

Hi all, I've a Motad 4-1 which I've put back on my F1 as the BSM system that I bought sat to low to the ground (Looked daft too). I'm happy using the motad for now, but it sounds too quiet. Is there a louder system still available to buy or is there anything I can do to the motad to increase noise?
