Thanks for the comments, not going so well with the footrest bracket polishing. I moved from Kens Plastic wheels to my buffing wheel too soon.

Result is the edges are good but the main flat areas look like the craters on the moon. Going back to using the plastic discs is hard work as the surface is so smooth.

Not sure what to do now, I'm thinking of using Wet & Dry in a sanding block to rough it all up again, possibly 320 grit.

That's great progress, you either live on the Gulf Stream or have a heated work space.👍👍👍

Are you going to share the link Phil?

Collected my Superdream fork ears from the powder coaters today, firm is based  at Clay Cross near Chesterfield (Ollie at Rood Motors).

The old units were quite badly rusted on the inside surfaces with old silver paint & rust pimples. I did not expect a perfect job due to the rusting, I did no preparation work that if I had would have made the rear surfaces better than they are. The price for the job (£30 pair) so I took a chance.

I was told the Chrome effect was obviously not as good as chrome so not to expect too much.
Well pleased with the outer parts that you can see, inside faces surfaces a bit wavy but mostly out of sight they.(inside the tubes looks ok)

Might be worth looking at some of the e bay generic fairing mounting grommets, some listings show sizes.

When I've looked at frames they are often not as expensive as I thought even at bike breakers, the 750 might be different.

I saw a painted Superdream frame free to collect on FB, if no takers it was going to the tip, not local, Liverpool.

Blimey that's full of corrosion particles no wonder it's packed in. Something inside your boiler is rotting away and it's been washed out by the condensate. When's the last time the burner was stripped out.

It's been serviced by a Baxi Engineer for the last 6 years, he takes about 45-60  mins to carry out the service, I've never watched him. I have no idea if he stripped out the burner, he fitted a complete heat exchanger in Jan 2024.

My original installer who did the previous services was in & out in under 15 mins, he just plugged in his laptop and printed off  some gas readings for O2,CO & CO2.

Thanks for that Roy, here is the old condensate tank that was replaced in January 2024.

Your lucky. Some of the fires are attached to the boiler. The flue gases usually go up the centre tube with air drawn in around it via the outer pipe. It's safer that way , if the flue pipe leaks it goes into the incoming air instead of possibly into the room. It can also be detected by flue gas analysis. Some have two separate pipes. They were a horrible thing to fit

That makes sense for safety.

The plumber who installed the BBU HE did not use the front fire to rear boiler cable wire attachment system.
He used a wide velcro on the fire & hearth, it sounded a bodge at the time but works well, you can remove the front fire & move it away from the boiler without having to disconnect the power cable.

My original Baxi Bermuda back boiler/gas fire was like that, not condensing so it was super reliable. It never broke down in over 25 years , I replaced it when it started kettling quite badly, not as efficient as the later condensing type. The original central heating was installed by the builder, it was a Baxi Bermuda Back boiler with a wooden surround to the gas fire front. That boiler lasted from 1968 to 1987, replaced due to a corroded heat exchanger for a modern version of the same boiler/gas fire front  that lasted from 1987 to 2014. At the time I could afford the new boiler but not to convert from Primatic to a fully pumped system, had I done so it would probably have lasted even longer.

Photo to show the end finish that the wife loves.

This is the boiler behind the electric fire with the front cover off, the condensate tank has been removed, hence the gap lower left, revealing how corrosive the water is as it has overflowed into the base of the boiler..

Couldn't the boiler be installed in raised position  ..... leaving space under to facilitate a auxiliary pump installation  ?

That's rather than a sump or underfloor void.

The boiler is fitted into a fireplace made of bricks with an original circular acid resistant pipe flu. The house was built in 1968 having sold floors and solid ground floor internal walls, upstairs there is only a part internal wall in the bathroom that is not solid bricks or blocks. The outer upstairs walls are formed by the roof design as its a giant Dorma style bungalow that looks like a house. When new there was a gas point fitted to a Red Quarry fire place hearth,no Copex type chimney liners or gas flu blocks back then. The original Baxi Bermuda boiler gas fire combination was actually partially bricked into the recess to  reduce the opening to give the right amount of natural draft for the chimney.

When a BBU HE boiler is installed the special heat reistant double walled concentric plastic pipe flu was inserted inside the original  lined chimney flu from the top of the roof down. This double skinned arrangement allows air for the boiler to be drawn from top of the chimney via the inner pipe to the burner, the exhaust gases are expelled throught the outer layer I think. This allows the boiler to be fitted to an inside wall of the house, as it's a condensing boiler that left the issue of what to do with the condensate. Baxis solution was to fit a small tank into the base of the boiler, level switches and a pump periodically pump this water out. In my case the condensate pipe goes throught the rear wall into the kitchen where it is connected to the waste water pipe system. This is quite a short distance, about 2 ft in total. The washing machine sits directly behind the exit point on the other side of the wall from the boiler.

To raise the boiler is theoritically possible as the front electric fire is fitted to the front hearth , it would not be an easy job as the chimney liner would need to be shortened, the three water pipes to the boiler as well. I think this would have been a good idea when the boiler was fitted but the retro cost would be expensive if I could get anyone to carry out the work.

Baxi engineer did a temporary fix today, new sump pump, so heating is back on.
Returning next Tuesday to replace both levels switches.

Try Kojaycat if you are talking about the block connector.

Sorry could not see the photo on my phone, is it broken or does it just need the contacts cleaning up, Cilit Bang Limescale remover is good for cleaning contacts.

If you have eliminated the ignition switch I would check the fuse box itself. My replacement unit from DS was fautly when new,the fuse was good but no power on either end of the fuse holder.

I did a home repair with the soldering iron.

Tricks & Tips / Re: Main stand spring.

I used one of those T shaped spring pullers, trouble was I'm old and feeble in my upper body stregth, it took a few determined pulls to get it extended enough to engage with the frame bracket.

No I'm not going to start training using a Charles Atlas Bullworker.
I love the reproduced old Magazine Adverts shown later in the video.
