Many thanks guys. Very helpful. I've already lubed the mounts and can see where they project through on the reverse side.

CB750 / Side Panel Removal
« on: December 11, 2017, 06:01:09 PM »
Sorry to ask a dumb question folks: is there a proper way to remove the side panels off a 750 without causing them to crack. A dealer once told me there was and I don't want to risk damaging an already repaired panel.
I should have paid more attention at the time !
Many thanks in advance.

And heaven forbid that you should have the nerve to speak up about it; that'll have you labelled in some or all of those boxes faster than ferret up a drainpipe.

That's pretty impressive; wish I could do that. My first bike in 1971 the CB175 and judging by the colour of your pre-refurbished forks, mine was the same colour. I had the rack too. If my memory serves me right it would rev to 10,500. I was initially a bit scared to do it because I expected it to cause itself some serious harm, but the little thing was bomb proof.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. The wheels are serviceable but according to the guys I use for rechroming (Quality Chrome in Hull - first class by the way) probably uneconomic to refinish. Thanks for the tip on replacements; I've discovered the aladdins cave that is David Silvers.
They seem to have genuine Honda and then some oem rims as alternatives. I'm not trying to restore on the cheap but is there are reason to pay more for the Honda ones ?

Pictures will follow, honestly, but I would like to smarten it up first. (Just had a look and found this from the e-bay ad.....hope this works.) More to follow when the old girl has had a bit of TLC.

Thanks again for the welcome.

Hello everyone, I've just become a Honda owner for the first time since 1971. The one I always wanted, a CB 750. It joins the other bike I always wanted, an 850 Commando. The Honda needs plenty of work, although I'm hoping there's nothing too major: stuff like new wheels and lots of cleaning / polishing ! Sorry about the lack of pictures but hopefully we can correct that at some point. Ian
