Don't know what model other than they are not the real early four cable type but look almost identical but with the link bar  fitted with the spring clip holding the float bowl on....

Recommended Sources for Parts and Services / Piki's decals and stencils
« on: February 24, 2017, 08:04:42 PM »
Good old piki..
After a few emails pictures, measurements and a scan he came up with a pretty perfect decal for my little fantic tank...
Very easy to deal with changed it after the first print as he wasn't happy with it...
Delivered within a week of completion in a very sturdy box with instructions and always answered any emails I sent quickly and comprehensively..
He also produced a stencil, for my seat which is due back any time from the trimmer...
Cannot recomend enough...
I guess because he understands bikes and the kind of Agro we can get when trying to reproduce items he goes that extra mile
Thanks buddy

Misc / Open / Vin number on hpi check
« on: February 01, 2017, 08:52:08 PM »
Just putting this out there and some of you may well allready know this...
To cut a very long story short..
I was bidding on a barn find with no paper work and the add got pulled
I contacted the seller to see why...and another punter had done a hpi check on the bike ...I think he may well have been looking to export it...so,was covering all bases and I suppose checking of it was not stolen...
It came back with 2 hpi loans against the vin...the seller panicked and we came to a very favourable deal....I was in the mind set that nothing cannot be sorted and how the hell do you get 2 loans on one vehicle consecutively only 2 months apart...
I ran my own check and yes there were indeed 2 loans raised against it...
And also it stated first manufactured 74 and first registered in uk 70....go figure???
I contacted the hpi company and they informed me....here goes
Because it's an earlier bike with shorter vin code....any vehicle with that number anywhere in the vin will pop up in the search....so yes there are 2 other vehicles out there (it turns out plant machinery )with my short vin in there longer vin ....
And until the loans on them are paid off satisfactorily they will always show....
Luckily the guy from the hpi company has sent me a nice cover note stating my new old bike is clear....
Happy days..
So I guess if I check my fantic that only has 4 numbers in the vin code statistically I will get more hpi loans against it..
Somthing to think about if you are selling or buying an older vehicle and good to know so no panic sets in...

Other Bikes / 450 ht leads
« on: December 08, 2016, 06:52:35 PM »
Ok chaps any one have any ideas on this one...
Popped out to the garage and it was the cb450's turn to be run up to temp...I try and rotate the bikes so over a couple of months they have all had a good run...If not used. ..
Well it started on one....nothing to unusual but normal the second one comes to life pretty quickly. ..
To cut a long story short one of the ht leads or plug caps looks like it's
Giving up...when I took it off it was like black mastic....all sticky and black ...a good clean and back on 2 straight from start...
I have now fitted new plugs and caps and its running sweet again but i have not touched the leads ...
Is this anything any one has seen and will the leads need changing

Picked this up....I've always liked the early ones..it was a toss up between this and another xt500.
I've had a few of them and this just won me over..
Runs sweet and sound good too..with loads of the original parts on it..
But I do need a pair of mirrors I think part no 88110-041-000
Should be rectangular with the smaller 8mm thread...I think they fitted them to loads
Does anyone have a pair or even one kicking around. Surplus?..(spose this should be in wanted section)
Anyway we all love a pic

CB500/550 / Tank trim/seat trim
« on: August 21, 2016, 10:59:12 AM »
Just been up to the local car booty....and picked up all this chrome trim for a quid...
It's just a tad bigger than the original but I reckon I could bond it on the tank and probably a seat too...
Do you think it would be passable...

Misc / Open / Fairing repairs....
« on: August 17, 2016, 07:25:37 PM »
Hi guys
I have a front nose cone from a Fireblade that needs some love...
I did speak to a guy in the midlands at Arnold's repair centre and he said he could repair it and not need to replace the decals as it is damaged on the white parts only.....but...always a but ....he is not taking on any more work as he is moving and going into B and B....
Soooo can anyone recommend a decent guy who understands the need to keep the original decals In place...and of course do you think it's possible too......
Menno is this somthing you could do ?
