Haven't been on here for a while as its all been a bit quiet on the 550 front for quite a long time. Today I decided to take the bike out of hibernation and get it fired up ready for sale if its possible in the current situation we are in. Anyway it started and ran fine but the front caliper is sticking and the headlamp doesn't work. Is there a relatively pain free method to unstick the caliper and sort out the headlamp which is a sealed beam unit? Checked the fuses and they are ok.

I have posted this on the backend of another thread but seeing as I'm on a roll thought I would annoy you with another question.
The 500 four front mudguard is no longer available and mine's been beaten around like Father Ted's raffle prize Honda Accord. I know you can get the 750 mudguard to fit but then noticed that the 550 four front is still available as a genuine Honda part, number 61100-341-700XW. It's a different part number to the 500 but looks to be identical(ish). Does anyone know for sure if it's a straight swap please?

Don't think there is anything different about the frames but I'm no expert! Mine came with the bike and were fitted when the bike was being worked on to sort some poor running issues I had at the time. They didn't mention anything about them not fitting very well.

Want to treat the 550 to an oil and filter change + the carbs balancing . Anyone know of someone in the Midlands that can be trusted to do the job properly and won't have your pants down?

The reason for the trip was to recreate a photo of me on a bike taken 38 years ago. I hadn't been back since 1980 until a few weeks ago when I dropped in for the day. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised but then I couldn't remember what it was like before. Hadn't realised the beach was so long, was also free of amusement arcades and I didn't think the town centre was too bad. It's somewhat better than Coventry! Anyway battery turned out to be shagged so bought another AGM, this time a yuasa. Took a ride down into the Cotswolds instead so all wasn't lost.

So with the battery charged and the St packed for an overnight stay in Exmouth I pressed the starter button and hey presto, BUGGER ALL! The battery has been on the ctec for the last couple of weeks and was showing a full charge but obviously is knackered. Time for yet another one.
