What is the correct route for the breather pipe from the cam top vent?
Anyone know what length of pipe I need shop manual does not say?
My outlet faces rearwards.
-
From memory Ted over the carbs and down to back of engine between crankcase and swingarm
-
Some suggest it is supposed to end at the little guide bracket RH side near to where the battery breather tube ends,
-
Mine goes over the carbs, away from the throttle cables and linkage, above the airbox, and down between the battery box and electric panel,
Length is personal preference,
About level with the centre stand pivot

Same as John here. Never had issues with this setup.

Mine (. 550 k1) goes straight down between the carb inlets then across the engine top casing to the junction on the lower rhs of airbox, not over the carbs.

Davis, if possible, I'd like to see some pics of it.

550 is a different system than 500

I know, Mick. The question about connections and routing regarding that particular CB550K airbox keeps reemerging in various fora. That's why I asked David to post some pics.

Here are some pictures of my cb550 k1 crankcase breather hose. The attachment to the right angle connection on the airbox is a bit unclear - it’s behind the illuminated battery bracket. You can also see the ( modified ) air filter housing drain with a silver clip so don’t be confused into thinking that’s where the crankcase breather connects.

Thanks for the photos Dave that will help me when I fit mine - my hose is on its way.
