Are you saying that the alternator housing is filled with oil and if so, clean it down with cutch and brake cleaner to see if it is coming from the crank seal or the lower plug o ring  ;)

Nurse Julie does have them 😀😀 When you change that one, its easier to change the one at the other end of the gallery also. Drain oil, remove nut on right side of gallery, put something long through the gallery and tap out the plug where your leak is (its a push fit plug, not threaded on the left side). Replace both O rings, make sure the push fit one is home very tight. Refill with oil. DO NOT start engine until you have replaced engine casing, as the casing pushes on the little tit on the push plug to keep in in place when crank pressure rises. If you don't fit cover, the plug will blow and you will have an almighty oily mess to clear up.

If you managed to pull the plug out that shows how knackered the O ring is, the plug should be a very, very tight fit.

I thought it would be a good idea to remove some very light rust from the rotor by starting the engine and holding some 3000 grit wet and dry on it.
With hindsight and a bit of knowledge it was not such a good idea as I spent about an hour cleaning up the mess and rubbing the rust off manually ::) ::) ;D

Just kicking it over to circulate oil makes enough mess!!!!
I have seen that plug put in backwards and they leak them, little pip faces outwards.
