Hi,
Been keeping an eye on ebay for a replacement engine for my 1975 400f and wondered what compatibility is with later engines - i.e. There's a 1978 one at the moment but i wasn't sure if this would fit straight in etc.
Advice very welcome please
Cheers
Andy

They look the same on the model guide (http://www.motorera.com/honda/h0400/four.htm) but I'm not sure if the 78 motor will just drop into a 75 frame, I'm sure it could be "made" to fit quite easily though if it needed to be. If it is this (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CB400-F-Engine-/201130469432?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item2ed44f6838#ht_215wt_1190) one the mounting points look the same to me.

That's the one - there seem to be a few appearing but I wasn't sure which engines were compatible.
Seems cheap and reasonably local so might have a stab
