Could any kind soul please tell me what this bracket is for on the K1.  It's got me stumped. That's the beauty of getting a bike in a zillion bits.

Hi again, more questions. On the outside carbs on both sides there is a tube, for want of a better word, that I cannot figure out what it does. I have looked at a lot of K1 carb pictures, a lot of parts drawings and cannot explain what they are. Does anyone know?

I have discovered another problem with this rebuild. I got the bike in bits and inevitably there are bits missing. What I have found is that I am missing a bush/spacer that sits between the sprocket carrier and the wheel (item 13) If anyone happens to have their bike apart and could measure one for me so that I could get one made that would be fantastic.  If anyone happens to have a spare one they could sell me that would be even better.  Thanks in advance. Dave

Me again, I knew I would have a shed load of questions. When I took the clocks off the K1 I noticed that the speedo had something rattling around inside. I thought it might be a loose bulb but when I stripped it , I am changing the face, I found two bracket looking parts floating around and I cannot figure out where they came from, I am guessing some form of light shield or reflector even.  They are on the right in the picture. Has anyone any ideas?

Hi again,
The switchgears on the K1 are completely shot and I have been looking at the ones David Silver is selling.
It lists the left hand one as a genuine part but it is slightly different than the one I have in that theirs has the word TURN after the L/R on the indicator switch and mine doesn't.
On the right hand side one theirs has the light switch marked as . L H, whereas mine has . L p H.
I know it's not much different but will they be ok to use or best avoided, they do seem quite inexpensive for what they are.

By the way, I'm not building some concourse restoration here, I wouldn't know how, just tidying things up a bit to make the bike presentable so things that are not exactly right for the bike is not too much of a problem as long as they work ok.

I have gone and got myself one of those kits to play with. It seems to work quite well at turning the likes of these..  into these..  Very easy to use and takes about twenty minutes in the tank to do them.

I don't know if I am allowed to suggest items that I sell but I am probably about to find out. I have just realised that one of the stem spanners we make fits the 750K1 perfectly so I have listed them as such to see how they go. click here for websiteor click here for eBayI have looked at the part number for the nut and it seems pretty generic so I guess the stem spanner will fit quite a few things. Please let me know if this is OK or have I crossed the line?

I have been playing with the engine on the K1. cleaned the head, lapped the valves, new stem seals and put it back together after a general clean. Trouble is I have run out of new cross head bolts and have still got the transmission cover to fit. Does anyone know where to get just the odd few or better still, anyone who does whole engine kits? Here's how far I've got.

My K1 project came with an oval back light whereas all the pictures I see of K1s all seem to have the rectangular one. Has someone changed it in the past or is there some other reason it has this light? Mine is like this one.  Cheers.

Hi all. I have looked through the search option but I am still somewhat confused. I need a full gasket set for the K1 that I am building. I have gathered after a lot of looking that any ideas of getting genuine ones are way out so what is the best set to get and where from? Am I right in thinking that all the models had different head gaskets, i.e. I need to get one specifically for the K1? Also, could a copper head gasket be an option? I have read that they need ultra smooth mating surfaces and special sealant to work properly. Oh, another question while I'm here. I did a leak down test on it after I took the engine out and although it was only just in the green on each cylinder the air was leaking past each exhaust valve quite a bit. I was planning on a decoke anyway and to re-lap the valve seats, but could this have been because it was a cold engine, I believe this test should be done when the engine is warm? Any advice gratefully accepted. (and needed )

Hi all, I have found that someone has replaced the rev counter at some stage on my K1 with a later type (no idiot lights). Is it possible to fit idiot lights to this rev counter or is it time to start looking for another one. I have seen these replacement dials which could be a start. Replacement dialsI do have a few other questions as well but will spread them out to get my post count up.

Hi all. I have come on here as I have acquired a 1971 CB750K1 (I think it's a K1) which is in several pieces. It has been many years since I tinkered with these bikes, I had a K6 in 1977, so I am probably a little rusty. I will try and put some pictures up so you know what I'm on about.     The exhausts are in quite good condition which is a bonus as is the frame. The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed the 750K number plate, that in itself is a nice touch. Anyway, I am glad to be here and look forward to picking all of your grey matter in the near future. Cheers, Dave
