CB750 / Discs and carriers
« on: November 02, 2010, 11:27:24 PM »
The rebuild lumbers on, slowed by lack of money and time, but still fun in those stolen moments!
Started to dismantle the various parts on the Henry Abe wheels and just wondered if anyone can give a definitve answer regarding the discs on the front wheel. I am presuming the wheel was made to accept standard Honda parts, but don't know if what is on is standard or some oddity knocked up in a shed off the coast of Japan.
The disc is 295mm diameter, drilled and I looks to be stainless (i.e. covered in dust and cobwebs not rust!).
The carrier is 180mm diameter, and has three small round depressions in it with what looks like 6 F 3 in them - one character per circular depression. All being well there will be a photo attached. Answers if anyone has any please?

CB750 / Blast cleaning - which type?
« on: October 30, 2010, 11:55:08 PM »
I am coming towards the point of getting barrels and head cleaned up before having the fins repaired. and have a dilemma in what type of cleaning to use. I have had stuff bead blasted before, but the oilways in the 750/4 engine are so fine I worry about not clearing the thing out properly and running it on grinding paste when I start up in a year or so's time. Also don't want to pay a fortune in cleaning and then get it all oily when it gets worked on. Any compromise suggestions out there folks?

New Member Introductions / Another CB750 joins in....
« on: October 23, 2010, 02:48:42 PM »
Hi all - stumbled on the American arm of this forum and was directed over to the UK one so having registered just a brief note of me etc if anyone is interested.
I bought a CB750 K4 engine and gearbox in a 1978-ish Tony Foale monoshock frame a few weeks ago, hence the interest in this site. It is the second CB I've owned, had a 500/4 about 30 years ago which I sold to buy a Norton Commando, which I sold 26years later because I gave up trying to get it started. No actually it was to buy a horse for my dear daughter. How sad is that! Also have a Laverda Jota, a Guzzi Le Mans 1 and a Ducati ST3, and have previously had Ducati 900SS and ST4, Suzuki Hayabusa and a Laverda Mirage.
The CB has a pair of wheels by a bloke called Henry Abe, and apparently an 810 conversion by the same bloke. Presumably as a K4 all this would mosty likely be done in America before it came over here because until last week I'd never heard of Henry Abe.
Engine is now top-end stripped and the rest of the bike in pieces of varying size. This will take less than a year if I get the money together, longer if I don't, and the idea is to have a cafe racer of some sort at the end of it.
