Hi Just built up the cylinder and head and I'm not sure how far to tighten the top tensioner bolt. If I bolt it fully up it seems to be slightly bending the tensioner and it stops the tensioner screw from springing back when the locknut is slacked off. If I turn back the top bolt a little the tensioner bolt works as it should . I have left it like this and used loctite will this be ok. Thanks

Hi CB 550 four just finishing a full engine rebuild, which oil should I use. Mineral , semi synthetic or fully synthetic. I have read that fully synthetic damages the clutch ?

Hi Guys Wondered if anyone can give me a bit of guidance on fitting piston rings in the correct order . I know the oil control ring and the two thin rings go in the bottom groove but I'm not sure about the other two . There is a ring with square shoulders and is the heavier of the two and the lighter ring has slightly chamfered shoulders, I have done two pistons today and put the heavier of the two in the middle. Does this seem correct.

Hi guys I've taken on a half finished project and I have just plastigauged the new main bearings that came with the bike , I think from the spread of the plastigauge on the crank journals shows that there is hardly any clearance at all. Am I correct in thinking that a clearance between 15 and 20 thou would be good. I can't attach a picture as the file is to big This is my first engine build and any advice is very welcome

Hi Just going through boxes and boxes off a 550 four project that I have bought before starting to rebuild the engine. Can anyone tell me if the camshaft runs on shell bearings or does it just run in the castings in head and cover
