Misc / Open / Re: Using ACF-50

We had a rep give us a cheaper alternative to ACF-50 to try called - Brunox Lub & Cor Long-Term Corrosion Inhibitor. We tested it by vapour blasting some rusty nuts and bolts on my daily ride then coating them in the Brunox, it worked a treat, been on over 6 month now and no rust, it’s made in Switzerland I believe but seems to be getting hard to find now in large quantities

Thanks.  I ordered the HEL lines.
Who the hell are HEL though?  ???
If anyone ever wants any HEL brake lines feel free to drop me a message, I have an account with them and get a trade discount which I would gladly pass onto any forum members  :)

He reckons it can be done without removing the engine, so not only do you have to be a contortionist you now have to do the job lying on your back.  :o :D
If he knows so much about it, why isn't he doing it himself 🤣😏🤣🤣
;D I know i won't be attempting it  ;)

Can anyone confirm if it's possible to change the starter reduction gear without splitting the cases? (400/4). I don’t think it can but a customer of mine insists it can be done by just removing the sump, having never tried to do it this way I'm only 99% sure it can't but appreciate any comments

Cheers Daz

Thanks.

I had a look on EBay and found this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253750348091?hash=item3b14b3093b:g:Eh0AAOSwT9FbSPcd

It's cheaper and gives more options it seems. Hope it works too!
I saw them but the 12-pointed socket put me off, I prefer the 6 points as it has less chance of slipping.

Thanks for the replies,I just found a bloke on eBay listing a used rear wheel spindle for a suzuki 750 with the same dimensions as I require for £18, unfortunately it has the holes drilled in for split pins which I don’t want, he put the part number in the listing so I was able to find a genuine suzuki part from a later model without the holes (they changed to a lock nut on later models) for £20. Im no metallurgists but I would assume a wheel spindle would be suitable for a swing arm spindle bolt?

Anybody know what material swinging arm spindles bolts are made of? I may need to make a longer one for a 750 kawasaki project Im working on if I can’t find one from another bike. I did think of using En16, thanks

« on: January 10, 2022, 09:06:16 PM »
Mine are definitely as Julie's photo, springs against the flange. Looks like a error in the parts manual.

No the parts manual is correct, it's just the way they have laid out the rocker shafts, it's not exactly drawn very well.

If you look at the nut which goes on the outside of the rocker cover, then the shaft, the next thing on would be the spring, then the rocker, then another rocker and finally spring. That's exactly like it is in the photo.
The inlet rocker shafts start with the spring but the exhaust starts with the rocker whereas in the manual all shafts start with a spring, unless im reading it wrong  :-\

Hi all, just about to reassemble the rocker shafts on a engine that someone else stripped, I normally put the springs against the side with the wide flange on the rocker cover but this is different to how the part manual shows unless I’m reading it wrong?

Found this on Julies rebuild, this is how I usually do it
