I bought a set for a 400/4 not fitted them yet but they seem bang on for the money. Nurse Julie recommended them and uses them in their rebuilds so that was good enough for me. Mine came from the Cruzing Image eBay store, that way you do get buyer protection if they don’t turn up

CB350/400 / Re: Con Rods« on: June 27, 2021, 09:45:08 PM »If your figures are correct BTW, you'd need Brown, Brown, Brown, Green, Green. As all your figures are within the middle column and are thus No2.Thanks for that, Ted came up with the same colours so I'm happy to go with that. Just need some overtime in now to pay for them 67

CB350/400 / Re: Con Rods« on: June 27, 2021, 09:20:58 PM »Trouble is you need a REALLY good micrometer to measure them accurately. By good I mean professional engineers workshop good. Probably costing hundreds if not into the thousands I'd imagine.I have a new mitutoyo digital micrometer that i used but ill get it checked tomorow at the engineers whos doing my rebore 70
CB350/400 / Re: Con Rods« on: June 27, 2021, 09:04:18 PM »I would suggest remeasuring as the smallest size listed by Honda for the crank journals is 32.000.Ive checked them a dozen times 71

Have you tried heating it up with a hot air gun ? obviously don’t melt it but it brings all the mould oils to the surface and shines again, mine came out like new.

Thanks i'll have a look when i get home from work and see if i can work it out. Im no engineer and moneys tight so I cant afford to order the wrong bearings, I'm sure i'll get the hang of it in the end

So is it possible to get the bearing size without measuring the crankcase ? The cases are marked BBBAA
The main crank journals measurements are No 1 – 31.986 No 2 - 31.986 No 3 – 31.987 No 4 – 31.988 N0 5 – 31.985 74
CB350/400 / Re: Con Rods« on: June 26, 2021, 04:25:39 PM »No unfortunately, the crank had been removed from the engine by a previous owner years ago and the shells had been lost. Luckily the con rods were still attached but pistons had gone 75
CB350/400 / Re: Con Rods« on: June 26, 2021, 03:27:32 PM »You cant always find the crank markings, on my 350F (or it could have been the 750K4 memories eh) they simply had disappeared. I tried the petrol trick and used a very bright LED magnifying lamp but never did find them. If that's the case you will need to measure them very accurately with a calibrated micrometre (this is to tenths of thou's), if you cant do it go to a machine shop and get them to measure them for you. It's very important that you get the correct size shells.I’ve tried but can’t read anything. I have treated myself to a new Mitutoyo digital micrometer and successfully measured the crankshaft journals but I have nothing to measure the crankcase with yet |
