Member 4 Sales / HM323 Exhausts
« on: September 18, 2023, 02:47:46 PM »
I have a set of HM323 exhausts hanging in my bike cave. They were taken off my CB550 K0 that I bought from James in Sussex. I believe they are David Silver ones which currently retail for £1095 with fitting kit. All parts to mount them are included (rubbers, brackets, clamps etc etc). Gaskets would need sourcing. The exhausts are in excellent condition with no rust. Only reason for sale is I fitted a Delkevic 4-1 (heathen) to replicate a bike I had in my youth. I`ll never refit them and my GT550 needs new pipes so thought I`d offer these.

Price is £750 firm collection only from Chichester West Sussex.

CB500/550 / Carb O-Rings & Float Valves
« on: March 24, 2022, 05:52:59 PM »
Hi all, am currently overhauling the carbs on my CB550K0 after it had been left standing too long and then wouldn`t start.

Bought overhaul kits some time ago and half the parts are wrong.

Can anyone confirm o-ring sizes for main jet and float valve ?
Also actually probably do need 4 new float valves, where can I get the correct ones ? which hopefully will come with o-rings...... Half the advertisers haven`t a clue.

Thanks,

Geoff

CB500/550 / CB550 K0 Fuel Tap - Dumb Question
« on: February 16, 2022, 07:48:33 AM »
Last week after several months lay up the CB550 was a pig to start and then lacked mid-range. I overhauled the carbs not that long ago but suspected fuel starvation. Went to drain the fuel to replace with fresh and fuel only coming out of one outlet when tubes connected to tap into a petrol can. This is with tap in ON or RES position. Fuel flows from one tube and the other just gurgles as if venting. Makes no difference if tank filler cap open or closed. Surely fuel should be coming from both outlets ? Tap was brand new OEM from DSS about 18 months ago.

Thanks for any help. Gonna play further this evening.

CB500/550 / CB550 Float Bowl Screws
« on: February 19, 2020, 03:22:01 PM »
I have been chasing fuel leaks for the past few weeks. New fuel tap (OEM), float valves and seats, float pins. Put it back together once and float bowl gasket seal leak (my fault). Put it back together again and leak from number 2 caused by float valve seat not in fully (again my mistake for not double checking) saw it as soon as I lifted the float bowl. Fixed and started to re-assemble and now one thread on No 2 float bowl is  not holding torque as thread partially stripped. Are these M4 ? Could I helicoil it or do I need to source another carb body ?

Thanks for your help.

CB500/550 / CB550K0 Carb Inlet Rubbers
« on: December 07, 2016, 08:14:41 AM »
I have just bought a full set of carb rubbers for the CB550K0 I bought off James beginning of this year. The reason for this was as the only fault I could find with the bike was occasionally it idles high when you pull up to a junction so suspect air leak on the inlet somewhere. The originals are quite hardened and don`t think clamps are sealing them.

Anyway, any tips for fitting ? Soak in hot water first ? use rubber grease or fit dry ?

Thanks for any tips.

Geoff

CB500/550 / Numpty Question CB550 K0
« on: January 21, 2016, 01:32:03 PM »
What is the thumbscrew adjuster & spring underneath the throttle grip housing for on a CB550 K0 ? Can`t see mention of it in owners manual. I guess it is to adjust the resistance of the twist grip ? Thanks for your help.

Pics show my previous Max bought brand new and kept 11 years and highly modded. Should never have sold. The other one is my current one. 2008 with 2,000 miles on it. Only non-standard parts are handlebar grips and renntec rack. Standard is the new modified......

The 125 was restored by me and the 200 was bought restored but I changed the colour to blue last year. Both really sweet little bikes and parts such as mudguards and seats like rocking horse poo !

Bought last January, was restored in about 2010 and is an absolutely fantastic machine. Far better build quality than RD / RG500. A long term keeper......unless someone makes a silly offer.

New Member Introductions / Blame James From Sussex !
« on: January 05, 2016, 05:36:43 PM »
Hi I`m Geoff, I live in Bognor Regis (the posh bit).I currently have 2008 Vmax V4, (as new original 2,000 mile), 1999 TL1000S V2,(one owner 3,000 mile), 1987 NS400R V3(restored by previous owner and mint), RD125 aircooled twin (I restored) and RD200 aircooled twin that I bought already restored.

I was hankering after something to tinker with and take out to local classic meets occasionally. The above are all done and sorted and no tinkering required. Been looking at loads of stuff from various manufacturers and 2 stroke plus 4 stroke. I suddenly realised that my collection was missing an inline 4 ! Today I went to see James and have struck a deal on his orange CB550 K0. Really looking forward to detailing it further and getting out on it come spring. Haven`t had an SOHC Honda since about 1986 when I had the 2nd of my 400/4 ACD 699T which was sold a few months ago locally on Ebay so is still about. My previous one was OUT 492R.
