CB500/550 / Re: Stand spring slack ?« on: November 27, 2022, 12:08:54 PM »Removed the new "genuine Honda" spring to measure and it seems it is 145mm end to end ..... which would probably be the issue There's something wrong with that picture. The coils should be tight and without any gaps whatsoever. Either the spring is faulty and was supplied like that or the coins have opened the coils. I would always use a spring puller or lever it on using a long screwdriver. That way the whole spring shares the stretch rather that the coils when coins are used. 18

Tow balls are cast iron I believe. Very strong but brittle and shouldn't be straightened or otherwise heated.

If you have the two halves and can't find one, take them to a local engineering company who will make you one, I'm sure. 22
SOHC Singles & Twins / Re: Oil seal for cb200 gearbox shaft (sprocket end )« on: April 28, 2022, 12:02:19 PM »
A quick search suggests that this is a 25 X 38 X 8 rotary shaft oil seal. Readily available almost anywhere, such as here:

CB350/400 / Re: Honda fuel pipe spring wrap 17531-377-000 what's its purpose?« on: April 18, 2022, 12:30:44 PM »
The heat trapped in the coil will dissipate very quickly due to it's design rather than be absorbed by the dense rubber underneath.

CB350/400 / Re: Which wire« on: April 15, 2022, 02:03:34 PM »
The wire used in fuses has very low melting points, usually tin, lead or zinc. They do light up just before they blow too. 25

Send an email to IDM engineering with a drawing and spec of what you want and they will do it for you. They have made lots of stuff for me over the years including preload fork tops for a VFR750. Reasonably priced and first class work. the guy who owns the business is a classic bike nut and has quite a few Triumphs. Tell them what it's for and they will help.

I have no idea what caused it but it's bone dry. There should be oil everywhere.

Project Board / Re: 1975 CB750 P2 Police Bike« on: March 19, 2022, 09:05:49 PM »
It isn't really a problem though. It would be easy enough to get waterproof covers for use on the road so they can't be seen.
