Title: Tacho Gear... gearing
Post by: Lobo on October 08, 2020, 09:33:08 AM
Hi,
To save me manually turning the crank 10 times and counting....has anyone got the definitive answer to the ratio of crank turns versus tacho gear turns?

(got the tacho apart, and figured I may as well spin it up (with a drill and an iPhone strobe) to set the needle back correctly. 😂. And yep, overly complicated but the bodies are drying and I love a good fiddle....)

Ta.

Ok, you’ve all been hanging on far too long for this one...
4 turns of the crank gives 1 turn on the Rev counter drive.

Whilst I’m at it, 1 turn of the front wheel gives 2.875 turns on the speedo drive.

Nooo. I was just being born then!  ;D (‘57)

Been to Peterhouse on many occasions though; Ii bet it’s grown since your day. There is now a prep school and a Peterhouse Girls, across and up the road.
