Hi All

Just to finish the story.  I spoke with Hagon shocks.  What a very helpful and friendly company.  They made me a pair of shock absorbers which are 290mm long which is 20mm shorter than what they say is standard.  The ones on the bike were 315mm long (5mm longer than "standard"?) so it's now 25mm lower than before and my wife is much happier.  Doesn't sound a lot but it has made a big difference.

Hi

Thanks for the ideas.  I'll give it some more thought and probably give Hagons a call next week.

CB350/400 / 400F height

Hi All

My wife is enjoying riding her 400F with only one difficulty.  The seat height is a touch too high for her (Yes she has very short legs!).  Any reduction would be useful, an inch would be ideal.  The seat is pretty well unalterable (unless anyone has any ideas), so I'm thinking about changing the shock absorbers for a shorter pair.  Has anyone done this?  I've tried the web for suitable shocks but can't find a catalogue with dimensions.  The current shocks measure 320mm between centres, does anyone know if this is standard?  Anybody know of a link to a catalogue with dimensions?  What about other Hondas, any with same fittings but shorter shocks?  Any other ideas (apart from getting a different wife.....)

Thanks

Hi Dave

I've had a look at the Dyna-S system but am struggling a bit to find much detail.  Maybe it's just me!  I've found the website but there doesn't seem much detail.  Does the DS1-1 kit include new coils?  Is there a supplier I could talk to?  (in the UK)

Hello all

Any suggestions or experience about electronic ignition for a 400/4?  I can only find Boyer Bransden.  Maybe that's OK but are there any other options?

Cheers

I'll do that.  I always fit my own tyres.  Patience and soap help.  I must admit that I don't repair tubes any more.  Age and wisdom (and enough money) says that a puncture means a new tube.  I remember in the (late) sixties and seventies repairing tubes time after time.  I think we are more conscious of how fine the line is between life and death as we get older.  The 400 hasn't run since 2002 according to the person I bought it off so it's getting new tubes and rim tapes as well as tyres.

I'd thought about Roadrunners but there is now a very limited range - see Avon website

http://www.avon-tyres.co.uk/motorcycle/?page=tyres&method=showspecs&id=9

It looks like they have been replaced by Roadriders which seem to have a good reputation but they don't look so "seventies".  This is less important to me than grip.  I guess any tyre made from modern rubber will be better than anything we had in the seventies.

I need to decide between Roadriders and the K82s before tomorrow so any more views are welcome.  Price is more or less similar - maybe

Hi Mick

I run TT100s on my Velocette Venom and am very happy with them.  I would have gone for them on the 400 but they don't seem to make them in the right sizes.  The K82s are the closest I could see.

Any suggestions out there for tyres for a 400f?  I need two for the bike I've just bought.  I was thinking of Dunlop K82.  Any views/experience?

Hi Mick

Nice ride.  We often go over Whinlatter to Keswick then back to the West coast over either Honister or Newlands.  Newlands is a very picturesque (read slow, steep and twisty) route provided you have a head for heights, particularly when travelling in the Keswick to Buttermere diection.

Hi Steve

We live on the coast of Cumbria, about 8miles South of Whitehaven.
