Title: Nice bike just reminded seller its not a K1 !
Post by: AshimotoK0 on February 16, 2020, 08:55:52 PM
Remember this bike going for a song on eBay a few years back (from memory about £7K) .. lovely restoration. Just messaged seller (original restoration company) that  its not a K1?  There was a feature on it in one of the mags .. think owner was an Elvis lookalike .

Just got this from seller

So is it a K1 dressed up as K0? Don't think so  ;)

According to John Wyatt book K0 up to 1044947 K1 from 1053399 .. So is it a K0 transition.. has later K1 carbs?

But it's not a K1 surely? Evidently not the one sold on eBay it's another one he restored for somebody.

Sent photos from John Wyatts book and he has now added an amendmebt to listing an it's a UK bike.

So another 'K0' transition  (or whatever Trigger calls it  :) :) ) has surfaced

Yes correct Bryan . I noticed that too. It must be one of the 36 UK transition bikes I guess.

He is still mis representing it though

He is still mis representing it though

I think he's just worded that incorrectly, he should have said it has the pull/push arrangement not the 4 cables but the number is supposed to be inside the K0 limits according to the "expert" John Wyatt.  That's not a dig at John just a reflection of his status on the 750s. In that respect he's misrepresenting it by saying it's a K1. In the end who cares, it's a bloody nice bike and if it is a transition bike that would make it rarer than the K0 diecast versions.

He's now corrected it Ken .. agreed it's a rare bike and superb condition so interested to see what it goes for. He says the customer asked for the later carbs to be fitted ... wonder what the originals were? He doesn't give the full frame number so could be slightly before the transition model.

This is what he added today:-

n 17-Feb-20 at 21:18:32 GMT, seller added the following information:

"CORRECTION

AFTER MUCH INFORMATION FED TO ME FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT THE CB750 (THANK YOU), AND ITS MANY VARIATIONS, TOGETHER WITH MY OWN REFRESHMENT OF THE WORK I CARRIED OUT ON THIS BIKE, THE CONCLUSION IS
THAT THE BIKE IS IN FACT A KO, AND NOT A K1             MODEL.

THE CARBS ARE THE LATER TYPE (BAR OPEN/CLOSE, NOT 4 SEPARATE CABLES).  THIS WORKS BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL DESIGN ANYWAY AND IS WHAT THE CUSTOMER ASKED FOR AT THE RESTORATION.

;) yes i have both the books, the second book was issued for the Honda America market and the first book was for the Honda UK market ,and i would say that is why there was and still is confusion, so the american cb750 was called the k0  after they had changed from the sandcast engine .because the UK only got the diecast model anyway they was also called cb750 , the k0 is mentioned in the first book Has being a transitional model and it was dropped in favour of the k1 that everybody got  8)

Looks like the seller pulled the auction and sold outside of eBay. I wonder what £ he achieved?

Yea ..real shame that J .. Why do eBay allow that when they are so Draconian on other stuff like giving out address and email/phone details etc. plus they must be missing out on good revenue, as time and time again this is happening. The max. I saw it at was £10.5k ... anyone see it go higher? I would guess his reserve was £15k+

I just attempted to sent an eBay sold item by UPS but the eBay PackLink delivery service has errored for over a day, so I had to do it manually but didn't have the buyers email or phone number ... GRRR!

As I posted on here recently ..when you complete the PackLink transaction it gives you the sellers 'phone number and email address ... worth sticking this info on here somewhere it can be readily accessed. The previous trick of attempting to issue a PayPal refund, in order to get the buyers email address, no longer works.

If you pull an auction with bids on it you still pay the fees on the final price it was sitting on
Up to £250..
They will let you off once but only once.

I found this out first hand .

Obviously if it's a classified you pay up front but have a way smaller final selling fee

That's interesting. What happens if a seller sells the bike elsewhere as many of them add within their description 'advertised elsewhere so may be withdrawn'. Would ebay still come after the seller for the fees?

I believe this is correct after getting caught out before ...i then looked abit closer at fees.
If it's a classified add you pay a fee upfront.  So they already have their slice..  then they charge a tiny fee if someone presses buy it now.
If it's an all out auction they take 10% up to £2500 and its then capped at £250.

If you pull an auction with bids up to a grand they charge you a 100 quid .... for the help.

I found this out when I had a racing tribsa on auction sitting at about 3500 and then the original builder called me and let me have a shed load of history so I needed to reassess my options...
Ebay fees were £250 .
I did manage to call and i said I couldn't start it so advert was misleading...they let me off but said it was a one time exception...

It's a shame they dont go after the scammers with such vigor.  I have reported a scammer on three seperate occassions (the one with 2500 bikes and cars for sale), his add's get removed and a few days later he's back!
