Title: Metal tank badges
Post by: BigAl (Alan) on June 09, 2010, 05:52:13 PM
Hi all,
Very simple problem. What is the best way to remove the existing tank badges? I have tried to lever on one side of the badge, but its a bit stiff.

Thanks Alan

May not help, but the last time I took some off, I levered behind the badges and worked from one end to the other, being careful not to damage the paint. A bit heart in the mouth.

Not sure if heating would help as the badges are retained by plastic grommets (on thew K tanks anyway)

Good luck

The"grommets" are called "J" clips and are actualy steel with the peg on the back of the badge pushing in.

Blunt knife between badge and tank and gently lever

Thank you for the replies. On inspection the previous owner had used a blob of silicone on each post, took a bit of time to cut around the blob's, but the badges came off eventually !

Thanks again

Alan
