Title: Painting of Tank and Side Panels of my 1976 Honda CB750 K6
Post by: ScouseKeith on October 18, 2023, 07:52:55 AM
Hello. I am new to this forum but not to forums.

I joined SOHC yesterday. I purchased my 1976 CB750 K6 afew months ago, a USA import requiring complete restoration.

I have no problem wielding a spanner and stripping a bike to individual parts and building it back up. My problem is painting the decorative bits, tank and side panels, so i am after a local company to take care of it for me. But i am struggling to find somebody.

I live just outside York and would welcome any recommendations from my fellow forum members. The bike is up and running and now i am working on improvements. I am after the original paint colour and livery for the year.

Any help would be appreciated.

Best Regards
Keith

Hi Keith and welcome to the forum.
Have you tried Dream Machine, they are pretty close to you? A lot of members have used them and had good results.
I have used Menno Dek three times in the past. He is based in Germany and is a forum member on here. His work really is excellent and a lot of forum members use him. As well as painting the tank he also chemically cleans the inside of it to remove any corrosion prior to painting. It will come back like new.
For decals etc there is only one supplier to use and that is Piki (He goes under the name of Reddice on here and is based in Spain). He also supplies Menno with tank decals etc.
Good Luck.

Hello Keith
Rapier Paintwork in Hull are fairly close to you. They did an excellent job some years ago on my VFR400.

Hi Keith, and welcome to the forum, if you are contacting Piki he also does the stencil for the logo on the rear of the seat. (Unless you are changing the seat of course )
